I want all to know that Mr. David Wynne’s representation in my court case has given me not only the impression but the confidence that being an attorney, especially in family court, takes a special person with a heart that is understanding and compassionate for their clients and involves extreme knowledge of the Texas Family Laws that as I know now is an ever-changing living entity. When we started this cause, it was going to be a simple visitation request so I could spend a few hours a week with my son. Mr. Wynne was straight forward on what I should expect and how we should approach everything in regards to the case, which was very important to me because I had never had to be involved with anything of this sort and was completely unaware of what to do. From our first consultation, I felt a sence of relief and confidence that he would do everything he could to help me. His honesty, confidence and knowledge of Family Law was proven to be not only evident throughout my case but exceptional and extremely beneficial to the brilliant outcome. Our case quickly turned into a custody battle when abuse and neglect of the child was determined and from there, without hesitation, he jumped right in and with all the confidence you would want your attorney to have when it involves protecting someone you love. As I had mentioned before, this was a lengthy case, and with each court date Mr. Wynne was always prepared for the known and unknown, his expert trial ability during cross examination and questioning was respectful yet aggressive when it needed to be. I feel that he fought for our family like he would fight for his own. I want to Thank you Mr. Wynne that I now have custody of my son with all the other stipulations that I will not get into that helps assure that we can breathe a sigh of relief for my son who is now a funny happy loving 3 year old. After one of the court dates David Wynne stopped and talked to the other party’s Father in the hallway it was a brief friendly encounter I don’t know what was said, but the Father text me later that day telling me “David is a really good guy, I wish we could use him” – to me that epitomizes who David Wynne is… as an attorney and as a person.

Once again my x-wife sued me for no reason. I started with another attorney but was getting out classed by my x-wife attorneys. I had a very good friend that is a very well known attorney who recommend David and oh was it the right call. David was able to out class my x-wife attorney, we summary judge on one of the sues against me and on the other we were able to get them to go away as we had them dead to right heading into our court date. David was the first attorney to out class my x-wife attorneys and my wife used the one firm everyone claims is the best in Texas, well David proved he was the best in Texas. Thank U David, I will be forever in your debt for winning my cases.

Before hiring David Wynne to represent me in a complex divorce case, I carefully studied Fort Worth Magazine's "Top Lawyers for 2020" and attorney reviews in the Avvo Lawyer Directory. In both places, I found Mr. Wynne to be very highly rated and decided to contact him by telephone. A ten-minute conversation convinced me that David Wynne was the attorney I wanted to represent me. While reading my first letter from Mr. Wynne, I noted that his letterhead promised to provide clients with "aggressive controlled representation." Yes, I found this to be the case, but, more importantly, I found him to a "client friendly attorney" who always represented me in a competent, caring, and classy manner. My divorce case had been poorly handled by my previous attorney. For this reason, lots of work was required by David and he had many "Motions" to file just to "get us up to speed" and "place us on an even playing field" with my former wife and her attorney. As this occurred, during a five-month period, David's legal knowledge and skills as an attorney became very evident to me. Because of delaying tactics by the opposing counsel and the fact that this counsel required my divorce case to be arbitrated rather than settled in a court of law, the case took 14 months to resolve. Throughout this time, David provided me with excellent legal advice and was always available to support me. At The Wynne Law Firm, David is ablely assisted and supported by Sarah Halferty, administrative assistant, and Candice Blalock, senior paralegal. Both of them are very efficient, dedicated to legal excellence, strongly support the work of David, and provide needed assistance to his clients. Personally, I found Sarah and Candice to be pleasant, helpful, and wonderful representatives of The Wynne Law Firm. For any Fort Worth Area resident needing expert legal representation in matters relating to child custody, family law issues, or the divorce process, I highly recommend David Wynne. He is a knowledgeable, skillful attorney who very professionally interacts with his clients. Certainly, if there comes a time when I again need legal assistance, I will contact David Wynne.

David and his team were outstanding during the entire process of my divorce! In addition, he was prompt, professional and courteous. He even worked on my case during his vacation. What lawyer does that? Divorce is his expertise and it shows!

I had to drop the first attorney I hired to handle my upcoming divorce. I went looking for a replacement who was truthful, seasoned, razor-smart, sympathetic, and tough, so when I interviewed David Wynne, I asked him what his strategy would be for securing what was most important to me in my divorce settlement. He listened carefully to my story. Then he identified two issues that he believed would determine the shape of my final divorce decree (they weren’t then ones I thought they would be) and he provided direct and helpful replies to questions that had been causing me an awful lot of worry. David said that he didn’t believe in telling clients only what they wanted to hear—he tells them only what he knows to be true. And you know what? Some of what I wanted to be true, just wasn’t true; and some scary stuff that I thought was true, wasn’t true either. I felt relieved and empowered when David helped me see the difference. I told him that I was in financial distress and wanted to hire an attorney who understood this—someone who would be careful with my money while giving me their very best effort. I was glad that David did not respond by apologizing for his rates or by offering vague assurances or (what is worse) by boasting that he handled such a high volume of cases that he was able to offer low prices for his services. (One of the other lawyers I interviewed gave me the latter answer.) Nobody wants to be reduced to a fee-paying widget on a long conveyor belt inside a lawyer’s personal wealth-creation factory. David explained [1] which parts of the divorce process would require his direct attention, [2] which parts could be expertly handled by other professionals on his team, and [3] how he and I could communicate efficiently and economically throughout. The last two questions I asked David in the interview were designed to give me a read on his integrity. “What reasons can you give me to hire you?” David responded both by stating some of his accomplishments across many years of work on divorce cases and by telling me which values inform his philosophy of law and guide his practice. Solid! I then asked: “Would you please give me the names of two or three other attorneys whom you think would do an excellent job of representing me in my divorce and tell me why you think they would do terrific work for me?” David gave me the names of two attorneys that he would trust to represent HIM. David even gave me the name of one attorney who—given the specific details of my case—could potentially offer me more effective representation. I took a day or two to weigh David’s responses and then I hired him. How did things turn out, you wonder? I’ll just say this: David Wynne and his Senior Paralegal, Candice Blalock, have proved themselves to be every bit the intelligent, caring, skillful, and effective advocates that I hoped they would be, and needed them to be. They are the real thing.

I am an attorney in Salt Lake City Utah. I located Mr. Sanders on Avvo, when one of my small business clients was sued in federal court for the District of Texas. Mr. Sanders was responsive, provided urgent assistance in the case and directed us to a local published opinion almost directly on point. His responsiveness allowed my client to make some important decisions quickly. I was very impressed with Mr. Sanders.

Great lawyer. Helped me when 2 other attorneys would not and got a great result. The defense attorney thought very highly of Mr. Collins as did the adjuster and they knew he would go to trial if he thought it should. That helped get the case settled.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Worth, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
