There is no better attorney to have with you in family court. He’s honest and upfront and will not stop fighting for you. My nightmare case has lasted 9 years and he’s been a godsend every single step of the way. He’s whip smart, detail oriented and has a mass of resources behind him that are invaluable. I refer him to every person I know that finds themselves in family court. In fact, the opposing attorneys secretary told him that he’s the best at what he does and then asked him to represent a family member of hers. If you have the opportunity to have him take your case, consider yourself extraordinarily blessed.

I cannot speak any higher of Jeff Branch. He handled my unfortunate divorce for me and made it a smooth, way less stressed ordeal. I had originally hired a different attorney who did what most lawyers do, promise to help you, get your money, then put you on the back burner. After my wife's attorney walked on my attorney a few times with no fight I called and met with Mr. Branch. Let me just say, the tides turned quickly to a point where everything smoothed out and stayed fair. One of the most brutally honest people I know, Jeff always told me the truth and shot me straight. Right from the start with my case, he told me "no one will walk away with everything, but I promise you'll both walk away with what you can live with". He was so right, our divorce was fair and neither side felt cheated. The one thing I will say is Jeff Branch commands respect with his knowledge of the law and his winning attitude. From the moment he took over my case, it was like I had hired a Pit Bull to represent me. He watched over my case with great attention, communicated with me at every step, and literally changed the balance of the divorce from my wife and her attorney taking anything and everything they could to them doing more agreeing to Jeff's terms and submitting to what he told them they could have. His courtroom presence is very professional but very intimidating at the same time, with an air about himself as someone not to be pushed around. I really cannot say enough about how he got me through the most difficult time I've experienced with confidence and a resolution I felt very happy about. He truly cares for every client. If you find yourself in need a of an attorney for divorce or family law, you owe it to yourself to hire the best to get you through it. I highly recommend Jeff Branch as the ONLY choice for family law.

Jeff has been always upfront and honest about every aspect of my case. His personalization with not only me but my entire family made the entire process more easy, and helped reduce the stress. As a father that received the absolute best outcome in a custody case, I cannot give enough praise for this professional person.

I was in a lengthy and contentious custody dispute with the ex-husband. It was ugly and seemed never-ending. Jeff took over the case from my last lawyer, who wasn’t aggressive enough, and absolutely demolished the case. He was accessible and accommodating and answered all my questions honestly, good or bad. He stayed logical when the ex went emotional and his arguments won the case. After the case closed, the opposition filed more motions and Jeff just annihilated them. He is still my attorney and will remain that way!

Jeff has been absolutely incredible and the best and only choice. As a father fighting for 50/50 custody of my daughter to an ex wife that was more than willing to try and take advantage of a hurt father, jeff refused to let that happen. Jeff was willing to fight for me in times where I didn't want to even fight for myself. In the court room, he is feared amongst his peers. He is truly a good guy but does not mess around when it comes to what is right and just. He is a lawyer you can trust. I ended up with my daughter 50/50 and that's all I ever wanted out of the entire divorce and he absolutely played a role in that. No way I would have been able to get that without him. Now I will continue to build my relationship with my daughter and will always have jeff to thank for that.

I am an attorney in Salt Lake City Utah. I located Mr. Sanders on Avvo, when one of my small business clients was sued in federal court for the District of Texas. Mr. Sanders was responsive, provided urgent assistance in the case and directed us to a local published opinion almost directly on point. His responsiveness allowed my client to make some important decisions quickly. I was very impressed with Mr. Sanders.

Great lawyer. Helped me when 2 other attorneys would not and got a great result. The defense attorney thought very highly of Mr. Collins as did the adjuster and they knew he would go to trial if he thought it should. That helped get the case settled.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fort Worth, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
