I hired Thomas Murphree to handle a case after my son had been taken from our home by his mother. He made it seem like things were going to be great and he would do everything in his power to get my son back home.
Instead, he lied to me about my ex being served, lied to the judge about her being served while we were in a Zoom call. He said My ex would default since she never responded; well she never responded because she was never served.
He took $2,500 from me and basically cut off communication after we found out he was lying. He would not respond to texts, emails or phone calls and still had not refunded me any money to this day - despite saying he would.
He also attempted to bribe me if I did not report him to the BAR. I ended up reporting him and the BAR sided with me saying he was at fault.
If you need an attorney, go anywhere but here. He's a grade A scam artist and can't be trusted.

4 years later, I am suffering from the poor work...The mother of my child didn't have a lawyer, and somehow got EVERYTHING she wanted!
I hired Greg (Desiree worked there) to assist me in a custody case because he seemed to be a great choice at the time. I paid the retainer, and hired him. His team went to work immediately, and I was surprised at the quickness at the beginning.
Greg suffered a knee injury and had to have surgery. While I understood this, the 'attorney' put in charge (Desiree) was billing to my case and completely dissolved the retainer. This would not have been an issue, except when I was called into meet and discuss the drafted court order it was entirely wrong. The order was for a marriage/divorce, which we were never married. The draft was entirely wrong, and did not hit key points discussed via email.
A 10 page document was created by myself containing incriminating evidence of the mother. This was not brought into court, and a review on this website says they brought it to their case....
I was adamant about my son's name, being I wanted him to have my last name. They left the mother's maiden name on there, but assured me it was two middle names and NOT two last names because it was not hyphenated. Now I am having to jump through hoops because the state of Texas is saying my son has two last names.... They mediated and took the mother's side with his name, and I footed the bill. Mediation was 25% the cost I paid...
They never finished the name change, so I am having to do it myself. However, they are arguing that my son has two last names which was not what was agreed upon in court.
Edited Due To Owner Response:
What prompted my review after this many years is being told the legal advised instructions given by the attorneys associated with the case at the time the court order signed and initialed was found to be COMPLETELY inaccurate.
I am currently trying to change my sonās name on my own due to it not being completed by the law office, which was part of the agreement. The reason I initialed the court order (because they couldnāt redraft it, and instead crossed out sections in the order) was because I was advised by the legal team that since the two last names were not hyphenated, it would not be legally considered as having two last names. The Vital Statistics of Texas is denying my request to be added to the birth certificate and correct the name of my child because they are considering it two last names.
I think you are mistaken, as I WANTED to be the primary parent, but this was not pursued or even considered. Even with overwhelming evidence/documentation that was given. The initials I placed on the court order was done in result of the legal advised instruction I was given: āthe name was not hyphenated and would not legally be considered two last names.ā
The retainer fee of $2,500 was depleted before it went to court, and payments were made through the Clio application utilized by the business to ensure the case was moving forward. There is an āoutstanding balanceā that could possibly be shown, however the paralegal at the time (Caiti?) reduced that amount significantly due to the MANY discrepancies due to Desireeās poor experience and discrepancies. Oddly enough, Desiree was no longer working there after the case.
When I said that the outstanding amount would be paid in full once the name change was completed, I was told Iād receive a phone call from Greg to assist in the name change (he he was out of the office at that time). That call back never happened, and there would be no outstanding balance if the services I paid for were completed.
