While attorney Krenek worked for Raggio & Raggio P.L.L.C. was hired to work for me through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program and while working on my case she invited me and my son father to go speak to her and my sons father had knowledge of child custody and have gone through a similar situation with his other sons mother.. she sided with him on everything. I felt horrible she was working for me and having no support from her to help me out i felt scared so i dropped the case.. she giggled and smile and seem like she was having a good time with my sons father.. NEVER AGAIN.. IM GLAD I NEVER WASTE A DIME ON HER... SHE ALSO REEKED HORRIBLY OF CIGARETTE SMELL WHILE WE WERE IN HER OFFICE.. WHAT A GREAT ATTORNEY!! NOT.. I ATTAINED WHAT I WANTED WITH ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL ATTORNEY.. SO DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF HIRING HER... PLUS SHE GOT HER LICENSE SUSPENDED I WONDER WHAT FOR..?? PRETTY SURE SHE DESERVED IT!

Ms. Krenek recently helped me with my divorce. Although I was not in the state or near court where the necessary proceedings took place, she covered all bases for me in every way. She is very detail oriented and very efficient in her actions. She coordinated both for both sides seamlessly and things were finished in a very timely and professional manner.

In an emotional battle during my divorce, trying to determine what would be easiest and least painful for my children, Julie kept me strong and positive. Even though she felt I needed to be stronger and push for more....she stayed supportive to me and my needs and fulfilled every thing I requested. She stayed on top of my ex-husband's attorney to keep from extending the process any longer than needed. She is an amazing attorney and I will defintely continue to utilize her. I highly recommend Julie if you want to get results! No battle, no struggle, no hassle or confusion....just results!

In June of 2013, I provided financial assistance for a close friend who retained Ms. Julie Krenek to represent her in a child visitation case for which the Grandfather of the child denying all visitation rights to the Grandmother (my friend). The Grandmother had helped raise the child in her home for the first year of its life before the child’s natural mother relocated with the child and the child was subsequently placed with the child Grandfather who was granted temporary guardianship. Initially Ms. Krenek showed interest in the case and actively filed the appropriate papers with the court and represented her client in the first court hearing. After that, communications broke down for weeks. Ms. Krenek could not be contacted nor would return phone calls, emails or respond to visits to her office. After several months had passed, a non-responsive Ms. Krenek and a 2nd court date set for final disposition, the Grandmother had no choice but to retain a new lawyer barely one week before the final hearing. The outcome of that hearing was favorable to the Grandmother. After repeated attempts and even certified mail requesting a partial or full refund of the retainer, Ms. Krenek did eventually respond and gave a partial refund. I would not recommend Ms. Krenek to others seeking a professional, responsible family lawyer. I sincerely hope this review will help other from experiencing the anguish, uncertainty and feeling of abandonment experienced my one of Ms. Krenek’s clients.

I spoke to Cheryl and she is very, very knowledgeable about real estate law. She gave me such confident guidance that I took her advise right away to get the ball rolling without any further delay. I would recommend a call to her any day. I had called a local big firm days before and still awaiting a return call! I hope to one day be at her aide for whatever she may need! I hope this review would assist in paying it forward! What an awesome way to reach out to an attorney in an emergency situation... thank you Avvo.com!

I talked with Cheryl over the phone regarding an HOA issue and she made an excellent recommendation for addressing the issue. I was very pleased with timeliness and content of the counsel I received. I will call Cheryl again when I need legal counsel.

Have an ongoing issue with my residential lease, with tenants no upkeep of the property. Called her on the issue and got a very pragmatic advise. This was on my initial phone call, ( and free). I was pleasantly surprised that she advised me that pursuing in court would probably not be financially beneficial to my case. Definitely earned my future real-estate and business legal engagements. Thank you Cheryl. Anjan

My team of attorneys at Burress were nothing short of amazing. Every step of the way I felt understood, heard, and supported. At Burress, you don’t just have one attorney, the whole team puts their heads together to support you. One of my attorneys even said he would work on my case as if it was his family member going through it, and I truly felt that. I hope that no one has to go through what I went through, but if you do, this is the most compassionate group of lawyers you could have behind you. Honest to God, I do not know what my life would look like right now if I didn’t have them to go through this process with.

My husband and I contacted Lawyer Josephine when our i485 was denied. She also prepared our RFE for form i130 which was approved. In fact it was a difficult moment for us. A friend recommended her to us and indeed I can say that she is the best thing that has ever happened to us . She was ready to help and told us that everything was going to be fine so we should not worry but rather have a good documentation to prove that our marriage is real. Fast forward our interview was waived because of her counsel . I highly recommend Lawyer Josephine Owusu to anyone who need immigration help. Through her I am now a Permanent Resident. Thank you Lawyer Josephine God richly Bless you. You are the best.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Frisco, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
