In March of 2021 I was in a car accident where I was at a dead stop and hit at a speed above 65 MPH from behind. I was in the ICU with a number of injuries. I did not have any intention of getting a lawyer, no "lawyering up", I should be able to handle this myself. But before I was out of my 4 days in the hospital, I was getting calls from 2 different insurance companies telling me my settlement was ready. That is when I decided to get a lawyer. I had three different conversations with three different offices. I picked Scott's office because it asked me one question the others did not, "What are your realistic expectations from the attorney you pick to represent you? I said I want my hospital bills paid, my car paid for since it was totaled, and my days that I missed work I would be paid. Scott said that is a realistic expectation and his office could help me. While the process was long, Scott's office kept me up to date, month to month and even had my own text line so I could contact them. Also, Scott called me to keep me informed of what was happening. Bottom-line is he and those in the office treated me with respect and kept to his word in how things would happen. While I hope I never have another accident, kif I do I will be calling Scott.

No one ever really wants to have to engage an attorney, but if you need one this team is great. Hannah Conrardy represented us for an auto accident. We asked lots of questions, weren't sure we really needed representation, or whether try to sort it out ourselves. Very happy we didn't try to. Hannah very patiently answered all our questions, clearly outlined the whole process, made it clear how an attorney can help, and where they can't. They helped us get treatment quickly, handled all the documentation requests and negotiated with the insurance companies and medical teams. Hannah or a staff member quickly responded to all our calls or texts, and made us feel like our case and health was important and they wanted to be helpful. We are very happy that we engaged an attorney after all, and extremely pleased with Snellings Law and the case resolution. Hope we don't need this kind of help in the future, but if we do, we will definitely use Snellings Law.

Their expertise and patience in explaining each step along the way made an overwhelming situation feel manageable. I was made to feel like family and they always had my best interest at heart. They each are truly passionate about what they do-helping others through difficult and sometimes tragic circumstances. I was involved in a serious accident in July of 2020 when a car ran a red light and T-Boned me. I had to be taken to the ER via ambulance and had major damage to my shoulder. Topping this off, the person who ran the red light did not have insurance. I contacted Snellings Law and the were able to help me with recovery of my losses, after care for my shoulder and a fair settlement with my insurance company. They handled everything and were great to work with.

I have been professionally collaborating with Ms. Pruitt for over a decade, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, referring to her for when ever clients of mine are in need of legal support, either for family law directly, or when seeking a referral that would be a good fit from within her network of colleagues. My patients always reiterate positive feedback and outcomes, on her referrals as well. I appreciate her breadth of knowledge, direct approach, genuine care for her clients and availability for consult even when outside her area of expertise. I also appreciate her unbiassed treatment of clients whether being a husband, wife or partner. Very professional, efficient and effective and my number one resource for any legal matters facing my clients.

Benjamin is a great lawyer. He helped me with my TN visa application. My case was a bit more complicated since I had a 3-year degree from outside of North America, but Benjamin guided me through the whole process, and I got successfully approved! (He was also very quick at responding to any questions that I had.) I would definitely recommend Benjamin to anyone looking for an immigration attorney!

A fee months ago, we received a pretty extensive RFE for a TN1 visa and were pretty anxious as to what steps to take next. Benjamin happily offered us a free consultation where we talked for about an hour and discussed a plan of action on what kind of documents we should seem out and what kind of information we should include. After a month and a half of contacting clients to get specific documents and evidence. I drafted an RFE response letter myself and hired Benjamin to go over it to improve it to maximise our chances. He did an incredible job and had a very fast turnaround for a fair price. I would 100% recommend him to anyone looking to get help with their cases and are looking for somebody who cares, without breaking the bank.

He explained everything I needed to know, gave sound advice and helped ease some anxieties I had about the process. Can't recommend him enough!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Frisco, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
