Back in 2003, Maroulia Pontikas represented me in my divorce through the Women's Resource and Crisis Center in Galveston. By a genious move, she won my case against my abusive husband. I will never forget her. I am forever grateful. She was sincere, committed and sympathetic.

Maroulia is a nice person, this is not a personal attack. Professionally, she probably would have been better suited to be a corporate attorney - where emotions and feelings are not required. Divorce can be an emotional roller coaster and it would be nice to feel as if your attorney seemed to care on a human level not just a financial level. She seemed to only go through the motions. I did not see any passion from her regarding my case, which I think is was detrimental to me as her client, especially in Family Law. She showed insincere(forced) sympathy and in my option bullied in court by the other attorney. In my opinion, she does not seem well equipped to be a family law attorney, which is demonstrated in her current feedback ratings. My side had around 8 witnesses which included professionals and compensated experts. Not one person that served as my witness was impressed and all advocated I seek new council. But due to financial considerations, I was "stuck" with her. If your divorce case is easy and clean and you only need an attorney to go through the filings and process, then she would seem to fit that scenario well, but if it is a contested and emotional case and you want an attorney you feel is there for you not just in a robot attorney capacity, I would not consider her as attorney. I am sure she is a great person outside the office, but as a Family Law attorney, it just doesn't seem to suit her well.
