To say Bafidis Law is great is an understatement. When my accident happened I was so stressed; If it wasnt for Alfonso and his team I would have still been in pain, and would have settled for anything the insurance offered me. Not only were they super attentive since day 1, they also took care of my health ensuring proper, professional and immediate care. Through out this lengthy and painful process Bafidis Law was there to take care of it ALL. They settled my case painlessly and swiftly, I fully reccommend Bafidis Law.

DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!! I was in an accident and his wife just happened to be at the scene and gave me his info. I 100% regret making him my attorney. He was extremely rude and condescending with every conversation. He made decisions about my case without consulting me and pushed me to get medical procedures I wasn’t comfortable with. The worst part was he was constantly lying to me then pretending he didn’t remember saying anything! I finally reached my limit and fired him! I called Thomas J Henry and they completely took care of me! They were the total opposite of this unprofessional amateur! Run, this guy will ruin your case!

Sheri and I just finished a 2 and half year divorce custody battle. She was a straight bulldog. She's had my back since day 1 and I can honestly say that the relationship between us was more than great. The way we talked and communicated was perfect and relaxing in a very stressful situation. She handled all my major concerns in this process like a professional. I genuinely appreciate what she has accomplished for my son and myself. What I can recommend is even though these situations are hard and mentally draining, have faith, do your best and let her work her magic.

Prior to the court hearing I asked Sherie Dye to "fight like hell for me" and that is exactly what she did. Shewas relentless in her efforts. I highly recommend Sherie for her above average legal skills. My ex thought that she would be able to win the case that she falsely claimed. Sherie exposed her Falsehood which caused me to win the case. This attorney is a Rock star in the court room. Hire her now.

Mr. Petterson is a rare find. He is honest and up front about everything that could or would happen in my divorce proceeding. During my marriage, I had acquired several properties, both separate and community property. I did not know anything about how to divide the assets, or what my legal rights were. Mr. Petterson was very encouraging and his staff kept me well informed, and answered all my questions along the way. Definitely an A+ attorney.

Divorce is never an easy time. But Jay Petterson made it as painless a process as it could have been. He advised me of the best process to handle this difficult matte and kept me informed along the way. Most law offices have a receptionist who screens calls, and you never actually get to speak with anyone who can provide information, and they never return calls. His staff always answered my phone calls and emails, and never made me feel like I was a bother. If you are on a shoestring budget and want the knowledge and experience of an honest, dependable attorney, Mr. Petterson is the one you should hire.

Having had horrible experiences in the past with lawyers, I was very reluctant when I had to hire another one. Mr. Petterson was recommended by a close friend, but I was still riddled with fear about being taken by another dishonest crook. Mr. Petterson surpassed any and all expectations a client can have about their attorney. He is not only knowledgeable, but honest as well. He took care of my matter in a timely fashion and his staff kept me informed and answered questions I had along the way. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing the services of a great attorney at a reasonable rate.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Helotes, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
