I couldn't be happier with the legal team or the outcome they produced with our student. I was hesitant to hire a professional, because I make it a point to be well versed in district policy and procedure. After hitting a "good old boy" wall, I was fortunate to find Shield's Law Firm. We highly recommend Shields Law firm. They are an extremely knowledgeable and experienced law firm. My wife and I reached out to Shields Law firm when we were having issues with our child’s school. We felt our child was being discriminated against because of a possible disability. Although we did not have a diagnosis of something that was wrong. My wife and I knew our child wasn’t getting the proper help from the school. Our child was many levels behind in reading and struggling with his behavior, yet the school was unable to find anything wrong or provide us with answers that were satisfactory as to why our child was performing so poorly. Not only was our child struggling in school, the administration was treating us and speaking to us very badly. Feeling hopeless and discouraged we decided to hire Ms. Jennifer Swanson. We met with Jennifer at her office and shared with her what we were going through with our child’s school administration. She was very understanding and compassionate towards our needs. Jennifer is a former special education teacher and very knowledgeable of Texas Education Laws as well as with the inner workings of education system and how to deal with school administration as well as school districts. After hiring Jennifer it completely leveled the playing field for us, we were no long being mistreat by the school administration. Jennifer help us understand our rights and informed us of our options. Jennifer always gave us multiple options in regards to how we wanted to handle the situation. She is extremely experienced with the processes in dealing with the school, Jennifer was always three steps ahead of whatever the district was throwing our way and had options ready for each scenario. After Jennifer stepping in to help us deal with the school, we were able to find a diagnosis for our child and have accommodations put in place. After Jennifer attending two meetings and coaching us on how to handle the school there has been a 180 degree turn around in the help that our child is receiving and also how the school speaks and treats my wife and I. We are so glad we decided to hired Shields Law Firm, we don’t know where our child would be if not for Jennifer’s knowledge, help and understanding. My experience with Shields Law firm has been amazing. Our attorney assigned, Mrs. Swanson provided my family with the tools we needed to advocate for our son, and helped us navigate the sometimes-treacherous school system that at times has been so confusing, unfair and frustrating. When I first needed someone who would listen and provide me with the appropriate and ethical ways to respond to finally get the help we needed, Mrs. Swanson went above and beyond!
