Immigration can be complicated, we need to prepare and send so many documentation, attend to fingerprint session, interview, adjustment of status, etc… You need a lawyer that is responsive and accessible. Last month, my brother and I scheduled a consultation here to see if we could get our mom back to the U.S. The attorney told us there was nothing he could do for us due to there being a 10 year ban restricting her from coming back until those 10 years were up. Before I left I mentioned to him that our father (her husband) is a U.S. citizen, but he still said we just had to wait it out. I left disappointed in hearing that, but did more reading on the USCIS website and learned that it is possible to get her back here through a 601 waiver. It is a lengthy process that will take several years but it seems better than waiting 10 years out in full. In regards to my rating, I just feel like my options weren’t presented to me and that it was a waste of time for $100 consultation.
