I am a believer that word of mouth and written reviews are by far the best advertisement for any business. When someone takes the time to write a five star positive review it usually means that the service was above and beyond their initial expectation. When my dad and I made the decision to seek medicaid to help provide full time nursing home financial assistance for my mom, I started looking on line to figure out the application process. I told my dad that I felt I should call a Lawyers office that specializes in Medicaid Applications for guidance, because there was so much conflicting information out there. What I appreciated when I first called the Holland Elder Law Firm was the professionalism from the time my call was answered. When I started explaining mom's story in summary on the call, I felt comfortable talking about her because the more I said, having someone on the phone with me telling me they had been through very similar situations themselves, assured me that I could trust that my Parents finances would be in competent hands. I quickly set up the free personalized assessment of my family’s Medicaid eligibility that was offered, with my dad. I wanted him to understand it was not a simple process and we were going to need some help. Every step of the process we would go through was lined out on a white board and every detail was explained in as simple language as possible so that we were able to see that this journey was not something we had the knowledge to pursue on our own. Anytime I've had a question about my mom's case, exactly what documents we needed to prove her need for Medicaid, or if I just wanted to make sure I was filling out a document correctly all I needed to do was pick up the phone or send an email and my questions were answered in a way I could understand. I know if we had submitted the information to Medicaid without professional guidance, my moms application would have been denied. Martin helped get the approval by sending complaints to Medicaid on our behalf because the law firm knows a lot more about how the Medicaid approval process works than we would ever understand, and I'm sure we wouldn't have known what to question and eventually we would have given up on the application due to it's complexity. I am forever grateful to the ENTIRE team at Holland Elder Law. Earlier this year my father's dementia rapidly declined to the point that he went from living independently to needing to be placed in a nursing home within the course of a few months. I was overwhelmed & stressed simply trying to care for my dad & navigate everything. Trying to figure out how to get him approved for Medicaid had me frustrated, hopeless & in tears on more than one occasion, as it seemed the whole process was simply designed to run me in circles. Someone suggested I look for an Elder Care Attorney. I was concerned about the cost, but decided to look into it. I found several firms that did elder care law, but it was not their main focus... & they wanted to charge several hundred dollars simply for a consultation!
