Talked a great game in the initial consult. Hired him and paid the retainer fee (quite significant amount), stated would definitely get a refund, the other party didn't have a leg to stand on. Knew the judge and would get the settlement easily. Burned through the initial retainer, had to pay 2 more additional times to have a slush fund available. 1 year later, still didn't go in front o f the judge, said should probably just accept their offer now (much lower than damages and no attorney fees) and move on!

To Monty Buhrow, Do you realize that you are a friggin rock star in my eyes? You may laugh but seriously - oh MY God - everything that happened yesterday, your grace, your talks, the stories you shared, the spin you've put on things in helping me gain perspective on things was so absolutely friggin unbelievable - an entire years worth of counseling never even scratched the surface... Jesus... All I can say is that you leave me speechless in who you are as a person and who you are as an attorney ... It may not mean much coming from a middle aged divoced unemployed social worker that has mommy daddy issues & major medical conditions - trying to make you laugh - but MY God..... The depth of your character and integrity is something I wish you could share with the rest of the world ... I've only benefited - selfishly I might add - to knowing you and being in your presence... So...thank you for being you and for helping me in this lawsuit against my parents... Sincerely Stef

My husband and I are both lawyers, but when we got sued, we relied on Monty Buhrow to represent us as we're relatively new to Texas and not familiar with Texas landlord tenant law. Monty was competent. He was very well versed in TX landlord tenant law. Not only that, he was incredibly familiar with various TX property codes that supported our case. Monty was also very responsive to emails, calls, and text messages. He was thorough in his communications with us during the 8 months from when we retained him to the trial. Monty exhibited the kind of confidence and know-how in the courtroom that you would want in your counsel. He was incredibly comfortable and familiar with the Tarrant County northeast courtroom procedures and judges. It felt like Monty practiced a lot in this setting, as if it was his "home court." Monty delivers. Our case went to trial today. And basically, we won on our entire security deposit AND attorney fees. Monty came prepared and delivered on his promise to get us our fair day in court. I would wholeheartedly recommend Monty should you need legal counsel. He makes a fantastic advocate.

I have NEVER had a good experience with any attorney in my 52 years of life; until meeting Monty Buhrow. I found Monty thru the Fort Worth Bar Associations field of practice referrals service.. From our first meeting Monty was down to Earth, realistic about the potential outcomes of the case which made me feel comfortable about moving forward... There was never any pressure or unrealistic goals, dangling carrots if you will, used to persuade me to retain him or not. While many attorneys may do this upfront, Monty keeps to his initial promises. Every email I ever sent to him was returned the same day... moreover, most where returned within the hour. All calls where answered or returned within the hour and his private cell phone number was also given to me... .. In short, there is nothing this attorney ever said to me that he didn't deliver on. His correspondence with the opposing counsel were always copied to me at the time they were sent to opposing counsel. His letters are simply impressive, you always felt like you had someone in your corner. Monty won our case; had he lost, my judgement would not be any different... I AM CERTAIN OF THIS. If you need an attorney that really cares, that is really on your side, that earns his money... then do yourself a favor and at the very least talk to this attorney, my experience tells me you will not be disappointed.

Monty was hired by my husband & myself when my Father continued to harass us after moving out of our home on his own accord. I had to find out how much further he could go after being served City Small Claims Court Papers? Monty tried to be reasonable & reassuring on this Family Case which should have never been started. Monty advised us even when it was hard to hear the real truth & what could actually happen to both of us. I started with a very good Lawyer who quickly tried to advise (as most people would)on Family Love & Reconciliation but what the exact Laws are. Either way a Lawyer or Father of 2 he took his Job very Serious, to the Point & explained the Law so we could understand. Monty won our case after a year with only one factor not closed but the others were closed against us. It was what Monty offered the Plaintiffs & they're lawyer allowed them to sign at Mediation. We were served papers again from Dallas County Courts. We of course went immediately to Monty's Office for Help. Needless to say Monty & his Team worked hard for the Last Matter of the Plaintiffs complaint. I began with a Lawyer but after 4 years we felt like Family. Monty charges less than the average Lawyer in the Metro Plex and also trusted us to pay the bill, but not go Bankrupt trying to pay him. It is so very hard to explain 2 Courts & years to finish this complicated case with a final closing Win! 3 days in the Courtroom, 13 Jurors, Opposing Lawyer with 4 persons, many Wittnesses with only my husband & I with Monty & Lori to Win this Terrible Case which I'm not sure your Average Lawyer could have Won? Would I recommend Monty Burhows to Freinds or Family?? I do every time I need to, I had a simple Will done for my single Mom Niece & my Brother-in-Law whom spent 7 weeks in ICU with no Living Will. Monty Burhows will work his heart out to listen to his Client but firmly tell you, he needs to be trusted to do His job.

After hiring an attorney and having all kinds of issues in regards to calls not being returned and dealing with incompetent office staff. We decided to look for another attorney, thankfully we found Sherry Armstrong. She was very quick in responding to our numerous questions with thoughtful and detailed texts and email. We would get responses within minutes- what a great way to treat people and run a business. Her fees were also less than our first attorney. And oh by the way, she got our charges dismissed!! I can't say enough good things about Sherry, awesome person thats also a fantastic attorney.

Mr. Foust was willing, able and ready to fight with me and for the mods of my case. Together we got our custody agreement overturned from my ex husband to me. He was there every step of the way and never left me to defend myself. He's very law savvy and knows all the loop holes not to fall into. Jeffry is very professional and always works in a timely manner. He will "throw down" in the courts which he does so well. I highly recommend him for your unfortunate family law needs. He plays hard with great results!

Mr. Foust has been advising me during 3 meetings and additional email communication over the past month, regarding a County Court real-estate case in which I am the plaintiff. I feel confident after the information I have received from him and the pre-hearing preparation that he has offered. As compared to other firms, I've found the service of this firm to be remarkably prompt, effective, in-depth, very professional, and at fees that, I think, have been more affordable.

When I hired Jeff Foust I was at the end of my rope with constantly fighting my ex-wife over everything. Barely over a year after we had finalized our divorce she filed for child support modification. Mr. Foust was there to help me through the process and seemed not only to be a lawyer working for me he was a friend that wanted the best outcome for me. I would highly recommend him!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hurst, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
