Does the word lawyer conjure up visions of a suit standing on top of something tall screaming at you? Lawyers who bill at $400+/hr even if a paralegal does most of the work? Thank goodness none of them bothered to return my call. Recently I had to go through the legal eviction process for the first time. Being naive cost me time, stress, and my tenant turned out to be quite cunning. Kent Ninomiya not only took my call, he offered free and sound advice prior to my retaining him. He returned calls/texts/emails promptly, won my case, saved me money, billed very fairly, and I would not of made it through the process without his legal and kind support. 1. He’s sharp. He offers a consultation to see if one is a good fit as a client for his services and grasps the details and implications of a problem quickly. If his services are not a good fit, financially or specialty-wise, he is neither arrogant, contemptuous of one’s ignorance, dismissive, nor does he leave a person high and dry with a quick “Sorry!” 2. As an attorney, even though not the right attorney for your problem, he starts outlining next steps and options to implement. Some steps and options may take your doing the work, some may take calling organizations that can help out with just a piece of the overall problem. He is blessedly helpful. He gloriously simplifies the unknotting of the problem and tells a person the next basic, most important steps to take. “This, this, and this you can do now,” says he. He also informed me of recently enacted state laws with new limits. 3. This man is kind. When one is looking at a knotty mess of a problem, he spends time telling that person what to absolutely do immediately and importantly, what not to do. His honesty is refreshing. No BS from him; just as much help and solid direction as he can give immediately to soothe the frazzled soul of a person with a lousy legal problem, not of their own making. “So, a thousand could solve this,” I say. “No, could be thousands—with an s,” says he. Then he details steps and things and options for me to work on for myself. I had not caused the problem, but it well could be a huge expense for me. He was generous with his time and didn’t have a trace of contempt or give me a quick brush-off as “not a fit for me.” 4. To sum up: He is sharp, a near-genius at getting to the heart of a problem quickly, is kind, immensely helpful, and generous beyond belief with his time and the sharing of significant legal expertise in a consultation. He’s honest about what a person can do NEXT to keep moving forward. One leaves the phone consultation (Covid days these days) calmer, infinitely wiser, and with a sense of direction. He is a credit to his profession.

Kent Ninomiya was very responsive. He often answered within the hour of my contacting him via e-mail as late as 11PM CST or even on a Sunday. He and I got to speak to each other on the first day and hour of my contacting him ~6PM. He's also very patient and comforting in his tone. I understood that I needed professional help, and that I needed a professional to handle the matter. He conveys excellent professionalism. He helped me with a matter of social media defamation at what I believe to be a reasonable rate. His responsiveness cannot be overstated. I feel as though this matter was worked through as soon as I could reach out and respond to the options that he provided for me to choose from.
