Moravcik Threadgill law firm is absolutely the best around. Mark Threadgill is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and the best advocate for families you will find. His staff are very knowledgeable with years of experience in Family Law. I watched in court as Mark represented a personal friend with her child custody case. He was working for her child as if he were working for his own. His success is earned and merited. I highly recommend Moravcik Threadgill Law firm if you’re looking for the best Family, Divorce, and Child Custody attorney.

Mark Threadgill is a disgusting human being. He lies and did not represent me at all. He took my $ 10,000 and withdrew from my case 5 minutes before court was to start. He has a temper and does not like to be confronted or be told that he is wrong. I asked him who he was representing and reminder him that I paid him to represent me. He got angry and told me that he was withdrawing from my case and left me there 5 minutes before court was to start. He never once returned my calls or emails. I don't know how he can sleep at night taking my $ 10,000. Karma will get him back. I would never advise anyone to hire him. DON'T BELIEVE IN ANYTHING HE SAYS.

Mark Threadgill and his entire law firm came very highly recommended to me. My first experience was my personal will and extensive visit about it and related documents. Mark and his staff were very knowledgeable and helpful… and caring about YOU! Then another issue of life arose and I again chose Mark Threadgill and law firm to guide me through a divorce. Many obstacles came in this path ..and again I was treated with confidence, integrity and compassion. Moravick Threadgill Starry law firm is the best that can be found in my books. They are family! Thank you all so much for being there for me!! Kay Chaffin Price

I hired Mr. Garza to help me with my auto accident after trying for days to get the insurance to help me. Mr. Garza was able to get the insurance to get me a rental car and pay for medical treatment. The office staff was not pushy, they explained the procedure to me, the length of time it would take. It only makes sense that I have to first stop treating before my case would be ready to settle. I was pleasantly surprised with my settlement offer and my net proceeds. Thank you Mr. Garza and staff.

Mr. Tommy Hull exceeded my ‘attorney-expectations’, with his integrity, honesty, and due diligence. Mr. Hull's representation exuberated the up most professionalism and keenness. Mr. Hull believes in true justice, and it shows! He is the only upstanding, honest, and sincere attorney I have ever hired. In short, Mr. Tommy Hull never promised anything he could not deliver: He never lied to me. Mr. Hull is upright, trustworthy, and effectively clear. His loyalty to his clients proves his 'no smoke and mirrors' approach. When hiring an attorney, your future is in their hands. Mr. Tommy Hull's reputability and sincerity helps to take the weight off your shoulders. With his efficacious plans and effectual results, you will not be dissatisfied. Tommy is trustworthy, detailed, and out to obtain justice for his clients. His adequacy for justice has been proven: ten-fold. I hope to never have to hire Mr. Hull for another criminal offense. However, I will always keep him on retainer for future recommendation, and counseling purposes: regardless of the legislative capacity.

Tommy Hull and his paralegal Kenna are awesome! I picked Tommy as my criminal defense attorney after an officer made a false DWI allegation against me. As a former prosecutor, Tommy is incredibly knowledgeable and knows how to get things done; he’s a straight shooter and always made time to meet with me when I had questions, and was able to give a realistic guesstimation of outcome right away, but never sugar coated anything(he tells you things you don’t want to hear but need to). Paralegal Kenna is also awesome, she was super responsive, and knowledgeable giving answers she knew on the fly, or reaching out to Tommy when needed. Tommy is a little more pricey than some options in the region, but in my opinion a very worthwhile investment. He had everything taken care of within 7 weeks, and while he told me that I could expect to lose my drivers license; he ended up having the ALR case dismissed too… So I never lost my license, which statistically is something that lawyers in these cases are only able to achieve less than 5% of the time. But I think that’s very much consistent with who he is… I’d guess Tommy is easily within the top 5% of lawyers capability wise.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Midland, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
