A few months ago I started my divorce journey I didn't know where to start others was charging $500-5000 just to tell me how to amend my petition I found Mrs.Early on google she told me what I needed to do free of charge because it was so simple to just write amended on the petition. Today I had to come back for help with a judgment and she gave me so much more than what I expected have a 2 hr drive home but I had to stop and give a praise break because I left her knowing she cared enough about me and case she went above and beyond to make sure I get what I'm entitled to. Y'all I can honestly say she is a true Angel.. Best prices for your situation, caring, honest, y'all I'm sitting here crying. Thank you Ms.Gloria

I paid Gloria $50 for a consult on a real estate matter I had. I figured I was going to have to sue someone and she explained that if I hired her for anything more than the consult the $50 consult fee would go towards the next thing. She listened to me and explained how the law worked in my situation, then she did some internet research while I was there. Bottom line is, she told me in detail how to handle it myself and everything worked out great! Gloria is a wonderful attorney- I will use her for everything from now on!

Gloria Early was a friendly enough person but she did not help me. She talked a lot and was not real clear on things she told me. She charged me $50 for services of googling and calling state offices for information. I know she needs to be paid for services delivered, but I could have done this for free. She then told me she could send a letter she felt would be very persuasive in my situation for $150.00 but I was not sure that would help. I can't say if she is a good attorney, but I can tell you I will not be using her services in the future.

We needed someone to fight for us, Jennifer stepped up and dealt with the legal system as I would want it done. She ensured our side of the story was presented in the proper "innocent until proven guilty" manner we needed. If someone you love is in trouble, leave the fighting to Jennifer.

I needed to get my occupational license changed to be able to drive at all hours. Jennifer called me after hours the same day I left my paperwork. I had my new occupational within two weeks, just as Amber, her very helpful secretary, said I would. The recommendation of attorney David Pfieffer proved correct - she is courteous, fast and efficient.

Our case was a weird case. Well, maybe more crazy than weird. Jennifer was AMAZING! She worked with us and listened to us even though we probably annoyed her with as much as we called and emailed. She was so professional and she went above and beyond and helped us get what we needed done. We continue to work with her to get even farther. I mean she helped us get my son out of the situation he was in and even though it was lengthy, and sometimes ridiculous, she was there to help. Thank you so much Jennifer!

When she was hired she immediately took action and continued to be professional, effective and communicative through the entire process. She was strong as required and , she also had a sense of humor. Responses to questions were timely and complete. When she had to do research she did and responded accordingly. She made me think that one could actually like and respect a lawyer.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of New Braunfels, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
