DO NOT USE THIS FIRM! I was T-boned on driver side on a one-way street turning left by a teenage driver running a light turning left as well onto one-way… I was struck so hard my car flew into another lane… My body swung to the right then back to the left… My head was bashed on the windshield… After an MRI… I had multiple herniated disc in my neck… I had to go through six months of daily therapy, Go through the Excruciating procedure of a medial branch block into my neck… Followed by trigger point injections… I had to miss work, I am a teacher at a private school… I teach kindergarten and I often looking down due to height of my children and as a Montessori teacher we work with materials on the floor using a mat which requires bending of the neck. I leeave so many days in tears and come home from teaching all day and put ice packs on my neck… Take OTC medicine, with pains shooting up my neck to side of my skull… And even have to tell my own nine-year-old daughter “you can’t hug me and wrap your arms around my neck”… “Please don’t pull on Mom’s neck” … Even driving in small town Temple Texas traffic is excruciating having to turn my neck to change lanes… I have to lift my body out of the seat and literally turn my whole torso just to drive safely… Everyone who knew this intersection agreed… Even the police officer off record that there’s only one way that this could have happened and that is if the teen driver was either texting or not paying attention and ran their light…Stanley and associates did NOTHING for me… I did everything they asked me to do… I never had communication from Anyone through this whole ordeal… No updates, no one asking how I was or how my treatment was going…I would have to use my short lunch break to try to call to get any kind of update and all I would hear from a rude assistant was “ We haven’t heard anything from the other parties insurance” I heard that over and over again and asked what they were doing to demand a response… And it was always well we have emailed we haven’t heard anything… We emailed again we haven’t heard anything… This firm is WEAK. Unprofessional in every sense. I have been disrespected and yelled at by the Assistant… She told me she would have Jacob call me… Who refers to an attorney is “Jacob”??? Not Mr. ? I put so many messages in and I never heard from “ Jacob “ or anyone above some young , snarky , disrespectful assistant. This went on and on with no contact no response to my messages in my car accident happened April 2023… And finally in August 2024 I get a generic letter saying they cannot do anything for me… My insurance company wanted to total out my car and I still owed on it and it did not have a very high bluebook value on it and I would’ve really taken a loss and been without a vehicle… So I’ve been driving around my crunched up vehicle and when it rains I get water damage inside which produces mold which I have to scrub… Because my child has a severe allergy to mold… And when I initially signed on they said they would do everything to get me personal property damages… Do not TRUST these people… Never trust anyone who doesn’t even have the maturity or professionalism to return a phone call. I am nearly 50 years old and know A thing or two about business… sadly after signing on, I knew from the get-go I had made the wrong decision in who I had hired to go to bat for me! They have the poorest communication of any business I’ve ever dealt with, Zero organizational skills… I was constantly bounced around to different people having to relive everything over and over with every phone call… I was promised many call backs that never happened…. Total disorganization… The person that took my statement and discuss everything with me had the completely wrong cross street… And the sad thing is that it took them over ONE YEAR to let me know that I’ve wasted my time and they are as incompetent as I thought. I now have a new attorney who has taken my case and they are in utter shock that I was not only treated like this but that there were no damages recovered!

Stanley & Associates did a wonderful job handling our case. When we had our car accident in October and the insurance company was the absolute worse to deal with. Both parties had the same insurance and agent handling the claim and she was really trying her absolute hardest to keep my brothers and I from receiving compensation. She was rude and just ugly... so I called Stanley & Associates and once they took on my case, everything went smoothly and we didn't pay a dime out of pocket for anything. Our case manager, Amanda, was the best! Her communication was fantastic and she really cared for us. It was so refreshing to be treated with respect and dignity. I recommend them to anyone and everyone, don't fight your insurance company, let Stanley & Assoviates take them on instead. You won't regret it! 🦈🦈🦈

Todd is the absolute best, I consulted with another attorney prior to hiring Todd, and Todd's keen attention to detail is what prompted me to hire Todd on the spot. I was accused of something that would have drastically altered my life trajectory. Todd was able to get the case dismissed, allowing me to continue on my path. Highly recommend Todd to anyone seeking a highly skilled, trained, and effective attorney!

If you find yourself in a bind, contact Todd immediately to represent you. He was able to take my case from start to finish and kept me informed every part of the process. I was found not guilty for my DWI and couldn’t be happier with the result. This case may have gone differently if Todd wasn’t my attorney. His team is also phenomenal to work with. He is worth every penny and also takes a genuine interest in your life.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Plano, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
