Do not call this firm unless you have less than $3000 in assets. However, I was referred to other firms?????. In other words, they did not take the time to explain or find out what type of help I needed. You are not allowed to talk to an attorney only an INTAKE PERSON - WHAT IS THAT? - that immediately judges your claim. Very poor service- However if you call your local Social Security office they will inform and help you with any questions you may have concerning your claim - They will inform you that the SSDI program has NO asset limits. Also, they will inform you have the right to appeal and your government Field Office will send you a "Request for Reconsideration" and a "Disability Report - Appeal " along with other necessary forms that will be presented before an Administrative Judge ( if you are turned down again ). They will even inform you of groups that can help you find a lawyer or give you free legal services. They will also tell you that if you have a lawyer they can only charge you 25% or less - but no more than $6000.--- Along with explaining that you have the right to file a new application at any time, but filing a new application is not the same as appealing this decision. So they encouraged me to continue with my current claim.I was surprised that the Field Office took the time to explain the process. Bottom Line - Take your time and find a law firm that will work with you or at least have an attorney answer a question. This firm - very poor service especially when you are going through a difficult time and are looking for help.

Do not hesitate to engage the services of Coates & Todd. They are great people with superb service. Tony helped me, every step, to understand and navigate the complex social security disability system.

I was approved for disability in 2014 from another lawfirm. My benefits were suspended cause I was over sga in 2015, In January 2018 my depression got bad again and I was way under the sga and couldn't work. I contacted Coats and Todd and they took my info and said I was eligible for assistance. Several days later I get a letter saying they couldn't help me. I was still in my epe period when my sga went down and I am entitled to having my benefits restarted without applying again. They treated me like I was someone first applying for disability, which is not correct. It should be a simple case as in getting the benefits that I am owed during my epe(eligibility period). I'm very upset that they turned me away. I'm also still eligible for ssi but yet I'm tossed away like a piece of trash... I suffer from major depression and have had it since I was a child, even with medication I still have bad days where I can't get out of bed.. I strongly recommend you to look for another firm.

Contacted this firm after my first S.S. denial. I provided all the info they asked, and kept them updated with therapist and psychiatrist visits. I was told it was important to keep up with my treatment, which also meant I had to work part-time to pay for treatment. They knew this and assured me it was ok. I called several times over the many months and asked if there was anything else I needed to do, and if my case was worth pursuing. I was told they wouldn’t have taken my case unless it was strong. I was told everything was going well. Then, the day before my hearing, I finally talked to a lawyer and was told the judge was conservative and we should rescind the request for this hearing and reapply for a better judge. I agreed. Then I received a letter saying “per our phone conversation “ they were dropping my case; please contact us again if you are ever unable to work. That wasn’t the conversation we had. After two years being strung along, the whole time knowing I had to suffer through p/t work, and they dumped me with a lie. They want easy cases, and if yours at some point looks like work, they’ll dump you and not care how much time of yours they wasted

Catherine is one of the best attorneys I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Alexandra and Tony were also extremely helpful, answering the questions I had (and even some I'd not even thought of). They take the time to explain the complicated procedures and benefits of Social Security Disability with understanding and professionalism.
I tried working with Social Security directly for over a year without results. When Coats & Todd took over my case, it was a huge burden off my shoulders, with an extremely favorable decision in the end. I highly recommend this firm and urge those with disabilities to hire them rather than attempt to deal with Social Security directly.

Getting approved still takes forever and is difficult but nice to have a lawyers name to throw around on your paperwork to help them move it along. Did help us get a better doctor review then previously and the rates are really reasonable.

I contacted Coats & Todd more than 2 years ago after about a year I became very discouraged. When my Case Manager contacted me, I told her that I was going to give up and withdraw my application. Shortly after, Catherine Coats called me and explained what was going on a told me not to give up. I didn't and had a hearing and was granted benefits. The firm kept to date and I would recommend them to anyone.

Brandon assisted my husband and I through our marital issues and I must say was the best experience with any attorney I have ever had. I have been given the "BS" speech from attorney's in the past that just wanted to make money and give me false hope at my expense, and were also never available to answer questions. Brandon was up front, honest, considerate of my time and money as to not keep me on the phone unnecessarily while being billed for it but was still able to make me feel that he wanted to answer my questions and keep me in the loop. He was always 100% honest even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear which made me feel he had my best interest at heart. His response time was always within 12 hours of my phone call or email but most of the time he returned my calls within the hour. I cannot recommend Brandon more he was amazing and he will be my attorney for life.
