I got some advice from him that got me locked up an put on house arrest. I'm going to the Texas bar association to get my money back after his terrible representation. I told him I no longer need his services a month prior an he sent me another bill with the price even higher what a rip off😤😤😤😤😤

He didn't listen to what I wanted in my divorce decree, which was uncontested... And every time I contacted him to correct his mistakes, I was billed. Not just once, but over and over. Eventually, I dropped him as an attorney because I was tired of being nickel and dimed for his mistakes... Eventually, I represented myself and was able to do a better job. If you are dealing with an uncontested, don't waste your money here... And if your divorce is contested, find a lawyer that listens to you the first time. ETA: He claims that this does not give a "fair representation" of the events... So, I will be more specific... My ex has struggles that warranted limiting his access to our child. From the very first time I met with Mr. Melton, I made it clear that I did NOT want standard visitation in the order. I wanted my ex to be required to complete mental health assessments and be deemed by a professional as capable of caring for a child. At NO TIME did Mr. Melton suggest that this was not "possible," and, again, my divorce was uncontested. Melton did not EVER fix any of his drafts to deviate away from the standard order, and never claimed that he would not. Instead, he continued to tell me he had "fixed" things, billed me for the communications, but never actually changed the standard visitation order. I dropped the entire divorce because I ran out of money. Frustrated because I had a newborn at the time, I did what so many do, and I stopped the process. 2 years later, I decided not to work with an attorney at all because I knew I could do it the way I wanted and didn't want to waste money not being listened to and being nickel and dimed (at the time, Melton charged in 15min increments, I have since learned it is better to find someone who bills in 6min increments). Anyway, I wrote my own decree, with the exact requirements I wanted from Melton, my ex agreed to them, and the judge accepted them. Again, the money I spent spinning my wheels frustrated that Melton was not listening to what I wanted was a waste, but at least I learned that I was capable of handling it myself. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unethical and dishonest attorney who really took advantage of my situation. I hired him 4 years ago, I was divorced with 1 year old. That time I had no place to live and I was in shelter. He told me that he will resolve my legal matter in maximum 4 months and I paid him everything I had for his service. Unfortunately he dragged the matter on purpose for 4 years and issue is still unresolved. He failed to respond or to take action over a long period of time but keep billing me thousands of dollars for his time. For the last 4 years I was just paying his bills, unfortunately, I was stuck with him and didn't know what to do. After 4 years and paying him everything I made in my life, legal matter is still unresolved and according to him I still owe him money. He's a total rip off and I'm writing this review to save others from him, find a better attorney and stay away from him.
