With my experience with Blake and Erin are phenomenal job and teamwork on my case, they listen to your frustrations and keep you calm! Blake and Erin I wouldn’t go anywhere else but you guys! Blake’s hard work in mediation did a fantastic job trying to see my kid or not to lose my kid, without me getting mad through this mediation process! I strongly recommend Blake and Erin! I would definitely come back!

I am 34 years old now, and my ex-wife is 31 years old. I filed for divorce back in May 2022 and finalized it in January 2023. We did NOT have a single joint account, and the only combined asset we had was our house, which we purchased back in July 2020. During the consultation, Blake mentioned that this case could cost me somewhere between $6,000 to $8,000 if we finalize everything in mediation, but it could go up to $13,000 to $15,000 if my ex-wife takes me to court for any reason. In the end, we settled everything in mediation, but it cost me $25,000 just to get a divorce where none of my desired outcomes were achieved! I was incredibly frustrated by how recklessly I was billed for any type of work that was being done. Whenever I asked questions about the charges, I only received explanations on why those charges were legitimate. Moreover, I was charged additional fees for looking into those charges, and I was always threatened to seek another representation if I had any issues with billing. Going through a divorce is not a pleasant experience, but realizing that I had unintentionally hired another adversary to accompany me during this excruciating process was a hard pill to swallow. To highlight the lack of attention Blake paid to me and my case, there was an incident during mediation. He was responsible for working on the spreadsheet that splits the assets and liabilities between my ex-wife and me. There seemed to be something that didn't add up to me, so I eventually requested him to forward that spreadsheet to me so I could review the formulas. It turned out that a mistake had been made, resulting in me losing $15,000 in my share of assets. I pointed this out to him, emphasizing that I am a math major (something I had mentioned to him numerous times, starting with the initial consultation). Blake was very surprised to find that out again and proceeded to recommend that it might be too late to rectify this discrepancy with the opposing party if we still wanted to reach a settlement without going to court. Otherwise, going to court would cost the same amount and cause a lot more stress. I am more than happy to provide any necessary facts to support this experience, and I would NEVER recommend Blake or his assistant Erin for anything!

Just a few words about Attorney Wade Kricken . From the inception of my case, Wade kept me in the know. He comes prepared, on time, and breaks it down in layman terms. He carry's a mean vocabulary, so pay attention when he talks. Orally gifted in the art of litigation. Wade Kricken returns your calls promptly. He makes himself available via text and email. Wade Kricken has further created Trusts designed around 643B of the IRC. From what I hear, his Trust awaits/pending a patent. I strongly recommend this lawyer. It is my pleasure to recommend this highly qualified attorney and strongly recommend consulting with him first before making any legal decisions. Thank you

Mr. Kricken is wonderful! He helped us 110% thru our whole process. We were being evicted and the landlady and lawyer were not communicating with us but in the end we won our case and were able to return to a drama free relationship with our la Daley once again, he is just great! A wonderful person inside and out. Always communicated well and kept us upto date on any issues and changes.

Money Law and Title have a great team to close on time all the time. The senior Title Officer, Cheryl Stephens, is super nice to return text or phone calls at any hours. Cheryl even went to my clients house to obtain their signature to close the transactions many times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Prosper, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
