My wife and I asked Mr. Johnson to update our trust in 2007 as a result of our move from Missouri to Texas. Since that time he has worked with us to insure our trust is up to date, funded and complies with any changes in the law. We are very pleased with his new Family Care Program, which helps us insure our assets are properly titled and aligned.

I cannot offer enough praise for the law firm of Richard P. Johnson and his associate Marcie Johnson. Upon the passing of my uncle in Dallas Texas, I had to travel from Columbus Ohio to the Dallas area and deal with a multitude of issues with regards to my uncle's estate. Everything from a ranch 65 miles northeast of Dallas in Commerce Texas, to his home in Dallas where I had to get a bio hazard team involved because of the conditions I encountered upon arriving in Dallas after learning that my uncle had passed. As if that weren't stressful enough, l had to make funeral arrangements, deal with stacks and stacks of paperwork, and unfamiliarity with the Dallas area. Richard and Marcie Johnson were extraordinary in terms of their assistance and professionalism in helping me with ALL my issues. They took charge from day one and offered me advice on everything from legal issues to assistance with reputable accounting firms, real estate persons, estate sale individuals, etc. Three months have passed since my uncle's passing and they have been with me all the way. when ever I had a question, concern or just needed a shoulder to cry on, they were there. My uncle's estate was extensive, but these folks were up to the challenge. After all is said and done, I consider them more than my attorney's, I consider them good friends, 'family'. In conclusion, I am old enough, 65, to remember when customer service used to mean something in this country. When companies cared about the needs and concerns and satisfaction of their customers. Well, I not only commend but also recommend the law firm of Richard P. Johnson and Marcie Johnson for every and all issues when it comes to Estate Planning, Elder Law and Trusts. Well done folks, much appreciated. I salute you for going well beyond the call of duty. Your a credit not only to your profession but also your community. Sincerely, a very satisfied client from the Midwest.

Richard Johnson was most helpful in providing advice and counsel in the management of my grandmothers estate. Having never been a trustee, I found Richard's guidance most helpful and sound. With his support my job as trustee was much easier.

Over the course of the last five years, my family has used the services of Richard P Johnson and his staff to help us fortify the structure and terms of our family trust. In each and every step, Richard Johnson and his staff went above and beyond the requirements to provide precise and salient answers to our questions; provide us with creative strategy; and navigated us through the maze of legalese allowing us to understand exactly what our documents said and how they were satisfying our plans. His staff was always professional, courteous, and prompt in whatever we asked of them. I and my family are totally satisfied with the journey and absolutely confident that the end product has accomplished every item of our agenda. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Richard P Johnson and his staff to help anyone in their estate planning. We are all very pleased with our results. Sincerely, James T Patterson, Col, USAF (Ret), PhD, and business owner.

Richard explained the need for a trust during our initial meeting and worked with my wife and I to set up our trust in 1990. Richard and his partner again worked with us to update our trust in 2011 to meet current laws and regulations. Our needs we met, and we feel that we walked away with a quality product. Richard is always available for questions.

A colleague and close friend, who is quite knowledgeable with law practice, highly recommended that my wife and I call Andrew and his team to assist us with legal documents that will serve us throughout our senior years. It was an excellent experience working with Andrew. We took several months to make sure this was the correct decision, especially since we have no relatives close by to help in case emergencies or losses would arise. I felt that Andrew Gore was professional, detailed in presentation, and the documents were well-prepared. My bank required a 3 day examination by their review team to make the documents within their standards and approval, and everything was in order perfectly. We highly recommend Andrew Gore for preparing legal services, and know he will work quickly and efficiently for your needs now, and most certainly in the future. Thank you.

After going to a free seminar on estate planning and not impressed with that attorney's services along with the pressure to sign with them for an enormous amount of money, I contacted the Barber Law Firm, Attorney Cavazos for an Estate Attorney, and was referred to Attorney Gore's practice. I found the same desired services for a significantly reduced fair and reasonable price. Attorney Gore and his team provided excellent service. I highly recommend Attorney Gore's firm for your estate planning. They are professional, understanding, and efficient.

Simply put, 'wonderful.' My spouse and I came to USA on a tourist visa, and when we decided to stay, we were referred to Attorneys Kemal and Fethi by a relative. After explaining our situation, we had a thorough and prompt discussion about what steps we needed to take. Not only are they professionals in their field, but they also took the time to understand what we wanted and created a roadmap for us (for which we are very grateful). Thanks to Attorney Kemal, our case was resolved smoothly and quickly. He kept us informed throughout the entire process, which is why we completed our case without any issues. Whenever we had questions, he was always quick to respond. For us, the trust-based relationship between a lawyer and their client is very important, and we placed our full trust in him. We are also very happy to have met him. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with a case.

Very polite, helpful and professional attorneys! You better be reaching out over email as phones go off most of the time due to hearings or them assisting others. Definitely recommend them to any of my friends who have delayed immigration cases.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Richardson, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
