I been through several lawyers before working with Brian Corrigan. The previous attorneys I consulted with not only failed to deliver on their promises, but I also felt like I was just another client to them. After dealing with that, I was hesitant to trust anyone again. But Brian completely changed my perspective. From the moment I met him, he was different. He took the time to listen to my situation thoroughly, explained everything in clear terms, and provided honest, realistic advice. I never felt like I was being taken advantage of, which had been my experience with others. Brian is not only highly knowledgeable and skilled, but he genuinely cares about getting the best outcome for his clients. His transparent communication, dedication, and commitment to my case were truly refreshing. If you’re looking for a lawyer who will actually fight for you, Brian Corrigan is the one you want.

I have worked with attorneys for business and personal matters for more than 20 years, and my experience with Mr. White was both calming and professional. From the initial consultation, it became obvious that Mr. White is strategic and prepared for combat. He displayed a genuine interest in the case matter, and communicated process and deadlines so that we were always ahead of the curve. In the courtroom, Mr. White displayed a unique talent for simplifying the complex, and his connection to the jury and bench was exceptional. Mr. White projected integrity throughout the process, and his competitiveness really shined in the courtroom.

I wanted to take a minute to recommend Mr. White and his firm to interested parties. I was involved in divorce proceedings which are never pleasant. As it turned out the opposing attorney for what ever reason attempted to delay over and over again despite the fact he had made the original filing. Mr. White and his team continued to say on top of the issue and because of his efforts and contacts within the legal system we were able to resolve the proceedings in an equitable manor for all.

During my divorce I hired Todd to represent me. Todd aggreed to represent me even though I was in middle of my divorce and was not comfortable with a previous attorney working my case. Todd's assusances to me that he would work more diligently to a faster resolve gave me a comfortable and confident feeling. Unfortunately things turned bad and Todd was ultimately prepared for what ever was encountered. Todd did not allow me to be run over by opposing counsel. I was pleased with the professionalism and respect that Todd and his staff showed. This office was all about me and careing for my needs. Secondly after the divorce unfornate circumstances with child custody arose. During the dispute Todd and his staff worked even more diligently and confidently for the health and saftey of the children. Todd was very quick to file all apporpriate cases without hesitation. With his professional knowledge, careing and no back down attitude I am ultimately pleased to write this review. I can not and could not thank Todd or his staff enough for the calm and assuring attitude during my most stressful time! During both of the court cases Todd represented me in, and to gain positive outcomes, I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone!

I'm single with no kids and I wanted to make sure my house and earnings were available to certain members of my family should I pass untimely. Ms. Nwigwe sat down with me and explained what would happen to my possessions in the event I passed without a will and circumstances that could arise in the event I do have a living will. She took the time to answer all my questions and even made herself available by phone afterwards. She explained the process to me clearly and did not pressure me to hire her. She gave me some links that I might be interested in and told me to call her if I had any questions or concerns. After looking over some of the information and speaking with my family, I contacted Ms. Nwigwe again and told her I wanted to start drafting my will and living will. She kept me updated and involved throughout the process, which made me very comfortable. She completed the documentation in a timely and efficient manner. Ms. Nwigwe was great and has a wonderful personality. She had me smiling and laughing and was very personable. I would definitely seek her services again should the opportunity present itself.

It was very difficult making the decision to go through bankruptcy. My biggest fear was getting a lawyer who did not care or have a personal touch. Carrie was exactly what we needed. She really made me and my wife feel very comfortable about the process and was extremely knowledgeable. She was attentive to our needs and was able to answer all of our questions. When we finally went through the courts to disposition our bankruptcy, it went so smoothly. We did not have one issue. Please keep in mind you get out of this what you put into it. Bankruptcy is not an easy thing because there is a lot of initial work that needs to be done. However, Carrie made it as painless as possible and really saved our financial future. Her prices are also very reasonable. You will not regret going to her if you need help with a bankruptcy.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Rockwall, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
