When I first spoke with Mr. Izzo regarding my divorce, he seemed like he genuinely cared and wanted to help so naturally I hired him.
As time and the divorce pressed on there were a number of times he claimed we were at the finish line and "just one more payment to bump the retainer". Eventually it drug on and on so much he promised as long as we didn't have to re-enter the courtroom there would be no more charges "after this one" (his co-counsel and my family heard him say this verbally).
After a while he hit me up for more money again and his co-counsel (which was always on call with him, so you get double billed: YAY!) did remind him ONCE that he'd said "no more billings" and then eventually she no longer stood up to Mr. Izzo in my defense about his promise. (She likely got reprimanded after her initial reminder to him). I reminded him of his promise as he tap danced around it and as I continued to push he said he needed money to continue and didn't want to argue and hung up on me. He knew full well if I were to spin up another attorney it would cost me thousands and thousands of dollars to get up to speed, so what choice did I REALLY have? I eventually relented, again.. what choice did I have?
Then came more charges, and more, and more. It became almost predictable.
He'd call and tell me the same story over and over again about some other judge in some other county. I probably paid hundreds if not THOUSANDS of dollars to hear that story time and time again.
He constantly called me by someone else's name in the beginning until I harshly corrected him. I think his case load does not match with what he can handle and is overwhelmed, overworked and likely understaffed.
The opposing counsel constantly filed things after the filing deadlines and Mr. Izzo just accepted it for what it was, rather than raising the issue with the courts as we came in unprepared.
Every time we encountered a dead end or an issue we should have taken higher or objected he just shrugged and said "it is what it is".
Bottom line:
No FIT parent should have to pay what I paid in attorney fees to have access to their child and in the end, I got told "It's OK, you got the quality time with your kid on the weekends with no distractions like school work or doctors visits" as if being a second class citizen/parent was ever a goal to admire.

I hired John in 2008 he sounded very professional that was all a act to hire him. My case was settled very quickly due to my ex husband wanting a quick divorce. I got a call a hour after all papers where signed by the judge and Mr.Izzo said things changed and I needed more money ? He then said the other lawyer didn't want to agree and I needed to give him more money to call the lawyer and get him to change his mind. I told him I had no money to give him and the judge signed off ??? He asked me if my mom could give me money or a credit card, I said no as far as I was concerned I was divorced I had a judge sign things and had filed paperwork for name change. Good Day! I called my ex husband and asked What is going on with your lawyer ? He said his lawyer and him never changed there mind and all paperwork was signed. He thought it was a way to get more money. 15 min later John called and said he made a phone call and was able to quickly get everything done and I was now divorced??? I have heard other stories of John trying to extort money. Beware !!

I would like to start by saying that John Izzo knows very well what he is doing and that he handles the situations like none other . These difficult times for us are emotional and are not an easy thing to go through, but let me tell you what a difference it has made having someone in our corner that will fight his heart out for us , has never left us hanging and we have been through a lot of this over the past several years due to the other side and there nonsense . John Izzo has been with us every step of the way . John gives knowledgable advice and handles the case and himself very well , he has never promised an outcome to us, as that can't truthfully be done . However our case and our family has got exceptional results every time. John works with the facts and presents them extremely well. John represented me several years ago , John got my son returned to me from another state ! I have had my son every since . John then begin to represent my fiancee a short time later and she has her son ever since . Due to the other side we have had to endure several trips into the court house including -at the drop of a hat notice from the court that we would have to be in court for emergency hearing the following morning , John notified us immediately as soon as he got notice from the court , he called every phone number he had for us until he got in touch with us ! Then he was standing in the courtroom on time batting for us with less then 24 hours notice to anyone on our side knowing this was going to happen including himself . Once again we got great results as John put a stop to the foolish games the other side was trying to play . Let me tell you most attorneys are not going to do this for you that is amazing . John has been there everytime and has gotten us exceptional results. I highly recommend John to anyone that is going through this difficult time , there may also be other good family attorneys out there but I can say from experience we have had and having John by our side , that if I had any other then John Izzo in our corner , I would feel like I had less .

John Izzo and Meredith Semler are an excellent team! I've known John for over 3 years as he was my divorce attorney in 2015, and we just wrapped up a final hearing in my custody battle. John is very inexpensive as I spent about a third of what my ex-husband did. John and Meredith worked countless hours preparing for the final hearing and their passion and persistence paid off as I won everything I asked for; John went up against 2 young attorneys and his experience and knowledge, along with my honesty, won our case. I HIGHLY recommend Izzo and Associates if you're looking for a professional, passionate, and persistent attorney to handle your legal needs.

John handled my divorce and did an excellent job. My children were my biggest concern and John did everything he could to help in that regard. It took some time, but in the end, I was awarded primary custody and we had a female judge.

John Izzo and his team went far and above the call of duty with our adoption of our daughter, which she was abandoned in our home at three months of age. John Izzo and his team fought tooth & nail from early 2010 to late 2011. And now here we are again from 2014 and pending to Aug. 10, 2015 in adopting our grandson. In a heartbeat without even thinking if in need again we will use Izzo law firm.

I had used John's services in the past for some business related items and was pleased with both the service and his character so the choice to retain him for my divorce was an easy one to make. A divorce is never easy and some very tough decisions must be made. I had to make a lot of these during my divorce proceedings and did not always see clearly when presented with the options. I will even say that I did not always agree with John's advice, but he turned out to be right every time. After accepting that I was wrong on some items, I came to realize that the best lawyers don't tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. He and I both got emotional at times, but this was refreshing as other attorneys I have dealt with in the past were always so business like. I pray that I will never have to, but I would not hesitate to use his services again as I think he has and demonstrates real sympathy for his clients.

Starts by saying we got the worst judge on the docket and that will cost you (the client) more money. He works only by cell but does not return calls. Business card does not show e-mail. Uses a rent an office where rent-a- secretary admits "poor cell reception". Then he charges you for not calling him.
Charges clients for postage, copies and for driving to court to represent you. Promises a successful outcome then gets to court and never says a word. Upon leaving the court asks for more Money to continue to fight this case. If you refuse to pay more he files a Motion for withdrawal from your case. if you agree to the withdrawal Mr. Izzo sends you an outrageous bill with fee's you never agreed to and of course the 3000.00 retainer did not cover. And this experience happened in a space of 2 weeks.

Navigating divorces and post divorce relationships is confusing and trying. Every time we have called John for advice we have been informed as to what the law says, what we can do and always leave feeling like we have someone on our side. We know that if something should go really wrong, all we have to do is place a call to John and know that he will be there, ready to help and lend a hand.

John Izzo represented me in my divorce. He prepares aggressively in case of a trial but is also willing to mediate or settle per your instructions. He doesn't escalate an already difficult situation just to run up the bill or squeeze a couple of extra dollars out of your ex, at the expense of any civility that might be left.
