Just spoke to this law firm, I would not reconnect this law firm. Stay far away. Their first duty is to the court, if a judge tells any one of their lawyers not to wear a certain suit again they will bend over backwards. Their duty is not in the best interest of the child but to the court first! Do not hire this firm, they will not argue your case in court. They will let the judge violate your rights and help them do it. When I heard this from their attorney during the consultation I immediately asked where is the duty to your client and the best interest of the child? She hung up. When a lawyers says their first duty is to the court that means you should run! Don’t be to quick to hire an attorney, look around ask questions because lawyers like these will backstab their clients!

I can't express how grateful I am to Valerie for her exceptional legal representation. She was incredibly patient and kept me informed every step of the way, making sure I understood the process and felt supported. Throughout my case, she was not only professional and knowledgeable but also genuinely sweet and caring. She truly believed in me, and because of her dedication and expertise, my case was dismissed. If you're looking for a lawyer who will go above and beyond for you, Valerie Hedlund is the one to trust. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of legal assistance.

I just wanted to leave a follow up review that Jose Ibarra is still waiting on a response about his case. He has emailed, called and left messages. What a waste of money for an attorney that doesn’t follow up and follow through for their clients.

I could honestly say Mr. Ritchie and Ms.Vanya safe, me and my family and especially my insanity . I honestly don’t know the correct words to show my appreciation towards this law firm because it’s beyond words how thankful I am for them . All of them made us feel like family specially my girls like to be around Mr. Richie because he took the time to talk to them and asked her any questions they had that didn’t have nothing to do with the case. He never rushed them. And he will make jokes and laugh at their jokes towards him . That was important to me that was another example of them being a family environment .Their team is amazing including a lady named Vanessa there’s times that I had questions or concerns and she tried her best to give me answers or help me through my thoughts . Including her and the team all show compassion towards my situation. I never felt judge or talked about after walking out of it. Never underestimate a paralegal because let me tell you, Vanya did her thing and she also showed up for me as a mother and a woman. even on weekends or night she will reach out to me to make sure everything was OK and how my visits were going. And trust me she had to calm me down plenty of times and walk me through the situation . Mr. Ritchie and his law firm showed a deep understanding of my personal situation and demonstrated empathy throughout the legal process. This helped me a great deal to get through this difficult time. another big thing for me was since day one my team always stay the same if Mr. Richie couldn’t contact me or make it to any hearings it was Vanya but trust me he was always in the loop and was always pressing, even though he wasn’t physically there. So I really appreciate that he didn’t have me deal with different people. I really wish I could find the correct words to show them how much I appreciate them and how much impact they made it in my life and they’re not replaceable. hopefully I will never be in a situation like this again but if I am or in any trust me, I will be contacting them. I sure will be recommending this law firm to friends, family or anyone who needs a team that will be willing to fight the world for their wants and rights. Thank y’all again.

We were desperate and needed someone that would hear our small voice in a huge system. Mr. Gonzales came highly recommended. The professional staff helped us secure an appointment immediately. After our consultation, we knew this was the place for us and hired him on the spot. Mr. Gonzales is professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest, caring and helpful. He gave us his contact number and made himself available 24/7. Any time I contacted him, I always received a return call or message without delay. If he was not available for any reason, we would still receive a return call or message from attorney Christian Henricksen. These two attorneys are a true DREAM TEAM. He exceeded our expectations. He is not just an awesome attorney, he is an awesome person. If you have found yourself or a family member in need of an attorney, Mr. Gonzales comes with the highest of recommendations. Thank you for everything Mr. Gonzales.

I was referred to Mr. Joe Gonzales by a law enforcement colleague who had dealt with him several times while working cases at the DA’s office. I was given Mr. Gonzales’s cell number and calling him was the best decision I had ever made. My initial meeting and impression of Mr. Gonzales was that he was a professional and he listened attentively while I explained what had occurred that led up to my arrest and charge. He understood that I could not accept anything but a dismissal or an acquittal or I would lose my career and future goals. He advised me that he would be working with a team that included Mr. Christian Henrickson and that I would be getting two lawyers for the price of one. I struggled emotionally through a year and a half of court dates until the case went to trial. Despite all my fears, Mr. Gonzales and his team reassured me and I knew they believed in my innocence. When Mr. Gonzales goes into “trial mode” it’s amazing. His cross examinations of the prosecution’s witnesses and complainant were direct and strategically effective. The trial was very stressful for me and as we were waiting for the jury to return with their verdict after deliberation I will never forget how terrified I was and how Mr. Gonzales calmingly placed his hand on mine and smiled and said, “Do not lose your faith now.” He was confident until the very end and even when I had feared the worst he believed in my case. The jury came back very quickly with a unanimous decision and acquitted me of the charge. I will never forget what I went through to fight for the truth and I will never forget how hard Mr. Gonzales and his team fought for me. They were amazing and I felt so blessed to have them fighting in my corner. Joe, from the bottom of my heart I want thank you and will never forget what you did. I would recommend Joe Gonzales to anyone who needs a lawyer because I truly believe and know from experience that he and his team are the best lawyers a person can have. His integrity, experience, and knowledge are assets for anyone who needs a professional lawyer to fight for their case. I would highly recommend him!

I was very concerned about what attorney would represent me. I wanted and attorney that would they be fair and understanding to my case. I was driving up IH35 and saw a billboard with Joe Gonzales picture and phone number. I decided at this time I would like to schedule a meeting with him to discuss my case. My first meeting with Joe was professional and honest, he allowed me to discuss my side of the story without judgement. He listened attentively and made sure I understood the pros and cons to include the direction we should take to ensure I received deferred adjudication. Each time I was given a court date he was present and ready to go. Joe Gonzales met with the DA's office and negotiated the best deal for me. During the whole process I trusted Joe and he had my best interest at heart. Joe keeps you informed and he cares more about the client and the outcome. I appreciate all that Joe did for me and my family, he is one of the best attorney's in San Antonio. Thank you Joe for everything......your more than an attorney your a friend!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Antonio, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
