Repeatedly denied an appointment in 3 years only met with me 2 intake and when my lawyer got involved. Child reported assault to the school and parent was federal convicted and Diane still said child should go with that parent, she was catch name calling me in text message we showed the judge and she said the text messages were fake and tried getting the other person to lie for her and they didn’t show up to testify for her. The child has even said she is ‘cringy’ and doesn’t like her. Diane try to make it sound like they are buddies and she know the child better than her parents. She is great at extorting clients for money and horrible at her job, and is extremely two faced. It’s on record in the court’s transcripts you can check my review creditable and know it’s not exaggerated or slander. This type of behavior needs to be known.

Diane told the judge that she talked to my children multiple times while they were with me, before and after covid. That is a lie. She told the judge that my children did not want to talk to her. That is also a lie. I only gave one star because I had to in order to post. If it allowed to post with zero stars, I would have.

I sought her out and hired her after her willing to take on my case because she helped my male childhood friend win his child custody case. Her paralegal at the time was very responsive by e-mail and Mrs. Martinez cared about my case. She was aggressive in court and on my side till the end. She had empathy for me and my situation. She may be busy because she is handling the Amicus side of things. She obviously cares about children and cares about justice and what’s fair. She can see through the bs of any oppossing ill-willed party. She saw that I am the Victim and sees the injustice in my situation. Keep up and stay focused in life and she will represent you. You get what you pay for and she isn’t cheap but it is the kind of affordable that makes it possible for you to save if you just keep working hard. Even if you’re depressed and slow down, she will point you in the right direction and connect you during or after your depression. She won’t leave you in the dust. She is a rarity. I recommend her and wish I could have her in all aspects of legal matters in life! Thank you SO MUCH, Mrs. Martinez. You helping me with my case gives me hope for the future and really means a lot to me. -Family Advocacy -Child Amicus/Advocacy -Veteran Supporter -Good Willed in Good Faith -Highly Recommended

Initial meeting went very well and the children were very optimistic that they would get the help needed in order to repair broken relationships with a parent. The initial meeting went great and for the first time in a long time, there was hope that things were moving forward, there would be accountability and they would have their parent back. Fast forward less than 8 weeks, our children's home was torn upside down and it spiraled from there. The emotional impact and complete lack of faith in "in the best interest of the children" is incredibly unfortunate. The relationship with the other parent is still yet to be repaired and unfortunately, may never be due to the lack of quick reactions rather than appropriate due diligence confirming and verifying "facts" before tearing a home apart.

We were desperate and needed someone that would hear our small voice in a huge system. Mr. Gonzales came highly recommended. The professional staff helped us secure an appointment immediately. After our consultation, we knew this was the place for us and hired him on the spot. Mr. Gonzales is professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest, caring and helpful. He gave us his contact number and made himself available 24/7. Any time I contacted him, I always received a return call or message without delay. If he was not available for any reason, we would still receive a return call or message from attorney Christian Henricksen. These two attorneys are a true DREAM TEAM. He exceeded our expectations. He is not just an awesome attorney, he is an awesome person. If you have found yourself or a family member in need of an attorney, Mr. Gonzales comes with the highest of recommendations. Thank you for everything Mr. Gonzales.

I was referred to Mr. Joe Gonzales by a law enforcement colleague who had dealt with him several times while working cases at the DA’s office. I was given Mr. Gonzales’s cell number and calling him was the best decision I had ever made. My initial meeting and impression of Mr. Gonzales was that he was a professional and he listened attentively while I explained what had occurred that led up to my arrest and charge. He understood that I could not accept anything but a dismissal or an acquittal or I would lose my career and future goals. He advised me that he would be working with a team that included Mr. Christian Henrickson and that I would be getting two lawyers for the price of one. I struggled emotionally through a year and a half of court dates until the case went to trial. Despite all my fears, Mr. Gonzales and his team reassured me and I knew they believed in my innocence. When Mr. Gonzales goes into “trial mode” it’s amazing. His cross examinations of the prosecution’s witnesses and complainant were direct and strategically effective. The trial was very stressful for me and as we were waiting for the jury to return with their verdict after deliberation I will never forget how terrified I was and how Mr. Gonzales calmingly placed his hand on mine and smiled and said, “Do not lose your faith now.” He was confident until the very end and even when I had feared the worst he believed in my case. The jury came back very quickly with a unanimous decision and acquitted me of the charge. I will never forget what I went through to fight for the truth and I will never forget how hard Mr. Gonzales and his team fought for me. They were amazing and I felt so blessed to have them fighting in my corner. Joe, from the bottom of my heart I want thank you and will never forget what you did. I would recommend Joe Gonzales to anyone who needs a lawyer because I truly believe and know from experience that he and his team are the best lawyers a person can have. His integrity, experience, and knowledge are assets for anyone who needs a professional lawyer to fight for their case. I would highly recommend him!

I was very concerned about what attorney would represent me. I wanted and attorney that would they be fair and understanding to my case. I was driving up IH35 and saw a billboard with Joe Gonzales picture and phone number. I decided at this time I would like to schedule a meeting with him to discuss my case. My first meeting with Joe was professional and honest, he allowed me to discuss my side of the story without judgement. He listened attentively and made sure I understood the pros and cons to include the direction we should take to ensure I received deferred adjudication. Each time I was given a court date he was present and ready to go. Joe Gonzales met with the DA's office and negotiated the best deal for me. During the whole process I trusted Joe and he had my best interest at heart. Joe keeps you informed and he cares more about the client and the outcome. I appreciate all that Joe did for me and my family, he is one of the best attorney's in San Antonio. Thank you Joe for everything......your more than an attorney your a friend!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Antonio, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
