The Packard Law Firm~ State of Texas It is common for a law firm to have diverse practice areas. It is common for a law firm to boast about its expertise. BUT….. It is uncommon for a law firm to deliver such excellent legal counsel and personal attention, enhanced by a case victory for a client that the client does not hesitate— not even for a second— to herald the top notch services of the Iaw firm. The amazing time and great attention to detail given me by Packard Law Firm Attorney Jacob Hugentobler and Case Manager Elisa Medina made a world of difference! They worked diligently to help me achieve a huge legal victory. They are a “dynamic duo” and a priceless component of the legal team at Packard Law Firm. The Packard Law Firm offers a wide range of legal services, including client representation for cases involving Personal Injury (car wrecks, truck accidents…..) Social Security Disability Insurance; and even assistance with analyzing the best options for Medicare Advantage plans. I am grateful to the best of the best‼️

Way back when, I filed for disability benefits with Packard Law Firm. I had heard of the horror stories of how long it actually takes to "convince" the SSA that an individual is disabled. I have to admit, I was concerned when my case was taking a while to move forward. However, I was never alone during this process. Even after the law firm went through a terrible loss of one of their colleagues, I received outstanding support. Ms. Stephanie Waite & her amazing team, gathered, & gathered, & gathered a ton of medical records to support my case. I am happy to say that, after going through an administrative hearing, I feel confident that a positive outcome will arise. And, if the outcome is not to my favor, I will utilize Packard Law Firm again without any question. Thank you Packard Law Firm for the support & confidence I needed to make this chapter of my life less stressful.

Packard law firm took my case for reconsideration for SSDI in October 2023. It is so hard to get a hold of the person who is handling my case. In these 10 months I may have made contact with her 2 maybe 3 times. Trying to stay hopeful. UPDATE: Thank you Mr. Sam Packard for returning my call. I am grateful that you took time in addressing my issues and answering all my questions. I look forward to your Law Firm in continuing ito help me with my case.

We were desperate and needed someone that would hear our small voice in a huge system. Mr. Gonzales came highly recommended. The professional staff helped us secure an appointment immediately. After our consultation, we knew this was the place for us and hired him on the spot. Mr. Gonzales is professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest, caring and helpful. He gave us his contact number and made himself available 24/7. Any time I contacted him, I always received a return call or message without delay. If he was not available for any reason, we would still receive a return call or message from attorney Christian Henricksen. These two attorneys are a true DREAM TEAM. He exceeded our expectations. He is not just an awesome attorney, he is an awesome person. If you have found yourself or a family member in need of an attorney, Mr. Gonzales comes with the highest of recommendations. Thank you for everything Mr. Gonzales.

I was referred to Mr. Joe Gonzales by a law enforcement colleague who had dealt with him several times while working cases at the DA’s office. I was given Mr. Gonzales’s cell number and calling him was the best decision I had ever made. My initial meeting and impression of Mr. Gonzales was that he was a professional and he listened attentively while I explained what had occurred that led up to my arrest and charge. He understood that I could not accept anything but a dismissal or an acquittal or I would lose my career and future goals. He advised me that he would be working with a team that included Mr. Christian Henrickson and that I would be getting two lawyers for the price of one. I struggled emotionally through a year and a half of court dates until the case went to trial. Despite all my fears, Mr. Gonzales and his team reassured me and I knew they believed in my innocence. When Mr. Gonzales goes into “trial mode” it’s amazing. His cross examinations of the prosecution’s witnesses and complainant were direct and strategically effective. The trial was very stressful for me and as we were waiting for the jury to return with their verdict after deliberation I will never forget how terrified I was and how Mr. Gonzales calmingly placed his hand on mine and smiled and said, “Do not lose your faith now.” He was confident until the very end and even when I had feared the worst he believed in my case. The jury came back very quickly with a unanimous decision and acquitted me of the charge. I will never forget what I went through to fight for the truth and I will never forget how hard Mr. Gonzales and his team fought for me. They were amazing and I felt so blessed to have them fighting in my corner. Joe, from the bottom of my heart I want thank you and will never forget what you did. I would recommend Joe Gonzales to anyone who needs a lawyer because I truly believe and know from experience that he and his team are the best lawyers a person can have. His integrity, experience, and knowledge are assets for anyone who needs a professional lawyer to fight for their case. I would highly recommend him!

I was very concerned about what attorney would represent me. I wanted and attorney that would they be fair and understanding to my case. I was driving up IH35 and saw a billboard with Joe Gonzales picture and phone number. I decided at this time I would like to schedule a meeting with him to discuss my case. My first meeting with Joe was professional and honest, he allowed me to discuss my side of the story without judgement. He listened attentively and made sure I understood the pros and cons to include the direction we should take to ensure I received deferred adjudication. Each time I was given a court date he was present and ready to go. Joe Gonzales met with the DA's office and negotiated the best deal for me. During the whole process I trusted Joe and he had my best interest at heart. Joe keeps you informed and he cares more about the client and the outcome. I appreciate all that Joe did for me and my family, he is one of the best attorney's in San Antonio. Thank you Joe for everything......your more than an attorney your a friend!

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Antonio, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
