Mr. Raign was my daughter's COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY. He went above and beyond anything I could have hoped. He spent so many hours on her case that a fellow attorney thought he had been retained by her. Mr. Raign was professional, supportive and understanding as our family walked through a very difficult situation. We hold him in very high regard and would recommend him 100%.

I was set up by an informant, who pushed me to make a drop. This individual Even drove me to location, gave me the dope and offered to watch over me while it transpired. I choose to walk over to a different location across from where we where meeting. Across was a police unit Who pulled out of lot across the street from where I was awaiting to cross. After it passed I proceeded to cross, with zero traffic on street. Unit busted a upturn and cut me off in parking lot where 2 other units pulled up almost immediately after. Officer jumped out asked me for I’d and took my purse off my shoulder and proceeded to search and found 2ozs of coke. I was booked and charged with possession w/intent. Me Raighn was my court appointed attorney on a case of possession with intent. He treated me poorly. Was no show my first appearance in court. Would not return phone calls or advice me on court dates/events. He spent more time looking down my blouse then he would answer my questions about my case. Mr Raighn was my court appointed attorney. He was a no show my first time in court. Would not return phone calls or did he advice me of court appearances, First initial meeting after telling him what happened that night, asked to see my arms. He wanted to see if I had any track marks. I don’t drink or do drugs. And have zero history of drug use or abuse. I was also 4months pregnant at the time. He treated me poorly. He did not fight my case at all.He spent more time looking down my shirt then he would answering my questions. I wished to go to trial. Under his advice I accepted a plea to possession with the offer of shorter sentence. The informant was reveled and would be brought in as witness. But if I choose to fight that plea they offered was out the door and would be looking at 20. I folded as he advised. Judge gave me 10years BUT suspended sentence. This was 10years ago. I’m currently still dealing with this. On top of this. He charged me more then double the cost for being my appointed attorney. An amount even the court has questioned, unfortunately I never knew I could contest that and my time has passed to file. Is he a bad lawyer? Apparently only to court appointed case. We all make bad choices in life. Court appointed or paid for, this is his job and he should fight for clients the same. My case could’ve/should’ve have had a different result if I had proper legal representation. Who knows, hopefully others have better luck /experience with Mr raighn Then I have.

I just gave another review and somehow my computer skills failed me and I lost my review! However, Michael is the greatest! He sticks to a case as though he's a dog with a bone. His knowledge of the law, but most of all, his integrity really sets him above others.

Recently Michael Raign represented our son in a DUI case, Mike was very informative about the facts of the law as it pertained to this case. Mike brought us in on every part of reviewing the case included a full review of the video tape. Afterwards asking our opinion then pointing out the facts that were revealed to him. We could have and often felt like taking a plea just to "get on with life" but Mike advised us that he felt confident that this was not only a good case to take to trial, but one that he felt was "winnable". We have never been in a position to need an attorney for ay reason so we put our full trust in his advise. Ultimately Mike made a very strong case to the prosecuting attorney's with the DA office that there really was no reasonable doubt. Sitting in the courtroom my wife and I watched his professionalism while discussing our son's case, after reviewing the tape and discussing the details, the two prosecutors agreed that there really was no case. Charges were dropped, and the dark cloud was removed from our families head. I highly recommend the services of Mr. Raign,

We were desperate and needed someone that would hear our small voice in a huge system. Mr. Gonzales came highly recommended. The professional staff helped us secure an appointment immediately. After our consultation, we knew this was the place for us and hired him on the spot. Mr. Gonzales is professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest, caring and helpful. He gave us his contact number and made himself available 24/7. Any time I contacted him, I always received a return call or message without delay. If he was not available for any reason, we would still receive a return call or message from attorney Christian Henricksen. These two attorneys are a true DREAM TEAM. He exceeded our expectations. He is not just an awesome attorney, he is an awesome person. If you have found yourself or a family member in need of an attorney, Mr. Gonzales comes with the highest of recommendations. Thank you for everything Mr. Gonzales.

I was referred to Mr. Joe Gonzales by a law enforcement colleague who had dealt with him several times while working cases at the DA’s office. I was given Mr. Gonzales’s cell number and calling him was the best decision I had ever made. My initial meeting and impression of Mr. Gonzales was that he was a professional and he listened attentively while I explained what had occurred that led up to my arrest and charge. He understood that I could not accept anything but a dismissal or an acquittal or I would lose my career and future goals. He advised me that he would be working with a team that included Mr. Christian Henrickson and that I would be getting two lawyers for the price of one. I struggled emotionally through a year and a half of court dates until the case went to trial. Despite all my fears, Mr. Gonzales and his team reassured me and I knew they believed in my innocence. When Mr. Gonzales goes into “trial mode” it’s amazing. His cross examinations of the prosecution’s witnesses and complainant were direct and strategically effective. The trial was very stressful for me and as we were waiting for the jury to return with their verdict after deliberation I will never forget how terrified I was and how Mr. Gonzales calmingly placed his hand on mine and smiled and said, “Do not lose your faith now.” He was confident until the very end and even when I had feared the worst he believed in my case. The jury came back very quickly with a unanimous decision and acquitted me of the charge. I will never forget what I went through to fight for the truth and I will never forget how hard Mr. Gonzales and his team fought for me. They were amazing and I felt so blessed to have them fighting in my corner. Joe, from the bottom of my heart I want thank you and will never forget what you did. I would recommend Joe Gonzales to anyone who needs a lawyer because I truly believe and know from experience that he and his team are the best lawyers a person can have. His integrity, experience, and knowledge are assets for anyone who needs a professional lawyer to fight for their case. I would highly recommend him!

I was very concerned about what attorney would represent me. I wanted and attorney that would they be fair and understanding to my case. I was driving up IH35 and saw a billboard with Joe Gonzales picture and phone number. I decided at this time I would like to schedule a meeting with him to discuss my case. My first meeting with Joe was professional and honest, he allowed me to discuss my side of the story without judgement. He listened attentively and made sure I understood the pros and cons to include the direction we should take to ensure I received deferred adjudication. Each time I was given a court date he was present and ready to go. Joe Gonzales met with the DA's office and negotiated the best deal for me. During the whole process I trusted Joe and he had my best interest at heart. Joe keeps you informed and he cares more about the client and the outcome. I appreciate all that Joe did for me and my family, he is one of the best attorney's in San Antonio. Thank you Joe for everything......your more than an attorney your a friend!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of San Antonio, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
