Having found myself facing a Class A Misdemeanor Assault charge and having phone-interviewed a number of attorneys, it became clear to me that the possibility of serving any jail time for my actions was not realistic. With that in mind, extensive trial experience was not a necessary criterion in selecting an attorney. Why go to trial if you know you’re not looking at any jail time? Sure, you could go to trial to try and get better terms with the DA, but it could backfire and possibly then land you in jail. No thanks – too risky! So, I thought I was looking at a fine and probation. How much of each was the issue.
I knew my search for selecting an appropriate attorney would have as its highest criteria the experience that person has with the DA’s office. Is this person in and out of the courts every day? Does this person have an established relationship with all the players (DA, ADA’s, etc.)? How long has this person been at the game? Does this person have enough experience with the DA’s office to know when he’s gotten the best deal he’s going to get? Can this person direct me to appropriate preliminary actions which would soften the assigned ADA’s attitude?
I’m happy to say I found the person that met all that criteria. Attorney Richard Ursha. Richard was great. For his reasonable fee, he represented me at all court dates (there were three) negotiating on my behalf, negating the need for me to ever have to appear in court. This was a real bonus since I live in Houston and the court was in San Marcos! I think the averted travel fees alone paid for his fee!
Well, my decision paid off (one of the few times in my life that has been so!). The ADA would dismiss my case pending completion of an anger management course ($45 and two hours on the internet) and twenty-four hours of community service. Twenty-four hours of community service!!!???? That’s nothing. I could do that standing on my head. I spend more time than that watching TV in a week. No fine, no probation! Needless to say, I was ecstatic about this outcome. Having been in the Navy in my youth, I have a soft spot for the military and gladly spent the community service time at a local military charity where I made new friends.
It is hard to imagine a better outcome to a very stupid decision. If you find yourself in a similar situation, do yourself a favor and call Richard. He knows what he’s doing.

I personally think he's the best lawyer in town. As far as DUI cases he got my sentence reduced to a misdemeanor obstruction of a highway which didn't affect my driving record and he also fought for my license not to get suspended I highly recommend Richard he's a very good person and a great lawyer. When it comes to DUI cases time is on your side just listen to the man he knows what he's doing

Contacted Richard the day after my DUI arrest. I wish I'd called someone else.
After almost two years, he STILL hadn't gotten me in front of a judge. Then had the audacity to tell me that if I didn't pay him the rest of the balance I owed him, he would relinquish all services and no longer represent me. I had told him MONTHS EARLIER that I would pay him the rest of what I owed him ($1200 out of a $3500 balance) when he got me in front of a judge.
Big surprise he got me a court date two weeks later, over two years after my arrest.
I arrived at the courthouse early. Richard arrived over an hour after he was supposed to. He not only had another client there to see the judge, but he also had a client on video call on his phone for THEIR court date!
So when I finally stood in front of the judge, Richard had to keep interrupting and stopping the judge so he could converse with the client on video chat!! I was SO EMBARRASSED. The judge even said in an annoyed tone "Well, THIS is a FIRST."
Finally I got my sentence: Sixteen Months of probation.
Now, I had been told by Richard that he made a deal with the prosecutor to give me TEN MONTHS of probation. I even asked her later about that previous deal and she confirmed, YES I had agreed to give you TEN MONTHS of probation. But for some reason, on the day with the judge, he asked for SIXTEEN MONTHS. I think he was so overwhelmed with all of his clients that he mixed up MY CASE with SOMEONE ELSES. He even took out someone else's file and started going over it with me when I first showed up and I had to correct him!! So unprofessional.
So that is SIX MONTHS EXTRA of probation, which means $600 of court fees and probation fees, and $600 of breathalyzer fees.
All of this after two years of trying to get a hold of him for certain questions, only to be told NUMEROUS TIMES by his secretary that he was either on vacation in Mexico, or visiting one of his daughters in college in HAWAII and CANADA.
Do not hire this guy.

He actually listened to me even though he was about 5min before closing for the day,not only listed but understood and had a wonderful conversation for 20-30min….that ,simply that conversation told me everything I needed to know and immediately started working on my cases(plural lol).. Got them resolved in 15-24 hrs. Shouldn’t say this but he should be charging more for all he does, above and beyond. Mr. Richard is truly the best, wished I knew about him before I hired my rude judgmental Austin attorney. Affordable, and I’m broke as heck.

I had Mr. Ursha help me back in 2013. This was great help, but now that I need additional assistance his communication is very poor and choppy. I was excited to try and get some additional assistance: however I feel like I am not important now that I am a repeat client. Very frustrating and disappointing.
