Trinh G Warner is an outstanding attorney. She is all about what’s in the best interest of kids. And she will fight for them. (Hired her as a family attorney.)

If I had all the time in the world I would tell you everything she’s done to me but to put it in a nutshell, Ms. Warner lied to me numerous times and even threatened me that my children would go into the foster care system when I knew that was the furthest thing from the truth. My case was a contested divorce and I was more than capable of taking care of my kids, did not have a criminal history nor did I have a history of abuse but did she listen? No. She lied through her teeth to keep me calm and the day of court she would freak out and tell me lies in order to get me to do what her and her buddy wanted. In the end she left my case without an attorney for absolutely no reason at all. It never closed and she never withdrew but thankfully I found a competent lawyer who took over! I hope whoever is reading this understands that I’m no longer upset but I am trying to warn others that you will regret hiring this woman. She does not care about you nor your case.

Ms. Warner assisted us with a Child Custody Case in 2013. She was empathetic and very resourceful for the case. Her drive is driven by her own life experiences and love for humanity. She tends to see the best in all areas of the case and you as her client(s). She is very forward with providing facts for your case to have a shot at winning. She communicates more than any other lawyers that we had worked with prior to meeting with her. With her legal assistance and superb knowledge of family law, we won custody of our son. My husband is a military member and the case was held in the state of Texas. This is by far one of the hardest states to win custody as a father in. We are so grateful we had Ms. Warner on our side.

Shawn and his team are the best law firm I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He stands up for his clients and will not let the judge or apposing attorneys push you around. I could not have asked for a better man in my corner. Men if you are getting divorced and love your children he will make sure your rights as a father are protected.

I've been married a couple of times (and divorced) and did NOT have good experiences with lawyers. A friend sent me to Shawn and he restored my faith (ok, somewhat) in lawyers. He was easy to work with and treated me like a person and not just some number. Things went much smoother than I expected (based on my past ones); I'm not surprised (in a good way) very often, but I was with Shawn. Definitely would recommend

What an amazing team! Anyone here can be trusted with your case! No headache no stress just results! Maricela was so generous with her information during our initial consultation. She was honest and upfront about everything! She answered any and all questions I had! I had other consultations but this was hands down the best one! She is extremely intelligent and you can tell after speaking with her, she does not mess around! The team got all kinds of paperwork filed for me. They provided all the legal documents I needed. All I had to do was sign here and there. They made everything convenient for me and worked around my work schedule. This case was definitely out of the ordinary but that didn’t change anything! Just took a few more steps which they handle without skipping a beat! Shauna went to bat for me in court, and she knocked it out of the park! I didn’t even have to show up! She was such a pleasure to work with. Just an absolutely amazing woman overall! She always had answers for me, always had emails for me, anything I ask of her she delivered! Thank yall so much for everything! I didn’t even have to miss 1 day of work!

I had the pleasure of speaking with Mrs. Jodi Head Lopez last week. I reached out to her regarding the passing of my dad, who was her client, to handle the estate. Ms. Lopez, remembered my dad, stating that he was her favorite client. This meant a lot to me as I know my dad spoke highly of her throughout the years. As we went through what needed to be done, she provided me with valuable insight, not only for handling his estate, but mine as well and brought up things to consider in keeping an estate from having to be probated. Luckily, my dad had her for his attorney, as he followed all of her advise, alleviating many headaches that can come from being an executor and having to probate a will. I felt that I have known her for years. I highly recommend Mrs. Lopez, for providing valuable insight, being professional, and having excellent interpersonal skills.

God is real. JODI HEAD LOPEZ. If you get a traffic ticket remember those three words. I spoke to Diego and gave him the basic information. She said she would go into court the next day and talk to the judge. I was skeptical about the whole thing. I put my faith in them. The next day she said judge wouldn't budge but she went the extra mile and looked at the tape and determined my traffic violation was incorrect and got me exactly what I needed done. I paid my dues with Diane and business was done. Everyone I worked with there was lovely and efficient and I don't know how I ended up with them but I swear ill go back (hopefully not but you get the idea).

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Schertz, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
