Mike Freden did an outstanding job handling my case. He was able to effectively navigate through multiple insurance companies and provide a very successful outcome for me. Mike took time to walk me through the process and thoroughly explain the options along the way. He is very knowledgeable. His past experience allows him to capably set expectations and make recommendations how to proceed. I appreciated the fact that when I had a question I was always able to speak directly with Mike.

I was referred to Mike, from a friend. My case transferred from another law firm due to difference of opinion. Mike only accepted my case after he reviewed the facts of the case. Mike was very thorough and discussed the steps needed for a successful outcome. Many discussions followed as well as my trust for Mike. I depended on Mike's expertise and experience even if I didn't agree with the approach. I knew he would look out for my welfare. I'm from the old school, where honesty means a lot. We now call it transparency; both of which Mike encompasses. Mike Freden is a well respected attorney and I'm happy he was able to take me as a client. Thanks again for meditating and settling this case in our favor!

I would like to thank Mr. Freden for working hard and representing me on my case. As it was my first time working with a lawyer, it took more time than expected and was a frustrating process. Mike patiently and respectfully communicated with me throughout, and his array of knowledge made me feel like I was in good hands. Personally, navigating through this case was the worst, several other personal losses had happened during that time, but I am glad I had his guidance through it. I appreciate his persistence on getting me what I deserved and I will definitely recommend Mike Freden when I can.

I thought I could manage working one on one with the Insurance Company on my own for a settlement without hiring an attorney! In the eleventh hour the Insurance Co. Offered me a ridiculous and unfair amount of money that wouldn’t have paid any of my medical bills! I refused their offer and my dearest friend highly recommended Mike Freden! I immediately contacted him, again, being literally in the eleventh hour, Mike called me within the hour to discuss the details of my almost two year old case! We scheduled an appointment the very next day to discuss all of my options! My case was unique in the fact that the elderly man that caused the car accident had just passed away ... Mike Freden, was very professional, knowledgeable, realistic, and compassionate about my case! By nature I’m very skeptical, Mike walked me through every possible scenario and I felt at ease and that he sincerely had my best interest at heart! Suing someone is not fun but rather stressful to say the least! Before hiring Mike, the Insurance Company treated me unfairly and did not want to be accountable for their clients confessed actions! The agent was rude, accusatory and insulting with all forms of communication! Nevertheless, We had my deposition, then mediation and a Jury Trail was set in late July ‘20. By the Grace of God and the do diligence of my extraordinary attorney Mike Freden we settled during mediation vs going to court! I highly recommend Mike Freden! Great INTEGRITY, Honesty and an open line of communication!

Finding a great attorney is NOT just about how much money they get you...it’s how they treat you all long. Sometimes we need handholding, sometimes we just need common sense given to us and sometimes just sometimes we need a shoulder to cry on. I’ll got frustrated about the situation and approach Mr. Freden ... he understood! That’s important in times painful, and Take his precious time out to explain things to me like to process what to expect. we may have to go over a few times but he knew what it took to help me, have the patience and he understood this was my life and he came in as immediate to me personally. Nothing is coincidental and Mike Freden made me feel important!! I was not the easiest client I’m sure, but Mike Freden is always thinking about Different angles of revenue to look at ....who looks at all possibilities. I can’t say enough for his professional & human attentiveness. During this process, he became a very good friend. Mr. Freden was VERY patient with me esp working with my head concussion and I was not the most enjoyable to work with. But after the NeurOptimazation with Kim Brown, my mind improved. And he shared his pride in me as a friend would do. So I was able to communicate with Mr. Freden much better but he still needed to be very patient with me...there’s a whole process of what we had to go through, he customized attention. a client just don’t get with a big firm, but Mike Freden always make time for me and gave me the patience through this trying time! I highly recommend this great attorney!!

Debbie represented the wife and I in a few different custody cases. She never sugar coated anything and told us when the cases would be easy or they may take a little time to get through. She made my ex-wifes lawyer look like an idiot on more than one occasion because she always had her ducks in a row on court days and he seldom did. Never one time did we go into a court room without everything we needed that day.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Southlake, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
