I recently worked with Ronique as she took my situation from a losing one to the end result I wanted. She came onto my case after my initial lawyer really screwed things up. I was very pleased to work with her and HIGHLY recommend her to anyone going through a divorce. To go into a little more detail, Ronique essentially fixed my situation. My ex-spouse hired a very aggressive lawyer who accused me of everything possible (literally) despite no evidence and painted me as an absentee parent which was not at all the case. My prior lawyer did a terrible job and from what I can tell, essentially rolled out of bed the morning of the hearing and went into court with near zero preparation. This initially resulted in me paying child support and loss of primary custody. Ronique fixed it and was worth every penny – she got me to 50% custody and a 50% split of postmarital assets, what I wanted from the start. She dealt with two very difficult opposing counsels effectively and was great to work with on my side. Her research and preparation for both trial and mediation were impressive. Again, I highly recommend Ronique. Every case is different and there are no guarantees, but she has what it takes.

This firm only sees clients as a paycheck. Everything filed was done late or not at all, showed up hearings tired, “need more coffee” unprepared. Lost custody of my 2.5yo daughter to man with a court ordered failed drug test for amphetamines, over $24k in arrears child support, history of domestic abuse and arrested for sexual assault. They put in 4 pieces of evidence of 100+, didn’t call any of our witnesses, and said they don’t file frivolous motions when I asked for an appeal…turns out they did not preserve our case for appeal after reading the transcripts. This firm dug our family into a hole we are still fighting to get out of, absolutely awful.

First Results: Attorney fought for me, resulting in Alimony, (married under two years). Second Time around: Peace of Mind, and everything I asked for in this divorce. I am in the Longshore Industry, where you have no access to retirement awards, however, Attorney Ronique, is equipped with QDRO Experts, who ensure you access to your monies, at your conveniences... Professional, Courteous, and Compassionate; all the traits of Victors'. Forever Grateful and Thankful to Attorney Roniques Bastine Robinson. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, Attorney Ronique Bastine Robinson, for your " Family Matters."

She took care of everything in a timely manner that really took all anxiety off my shoulders especially since I was also battling a major health issue. HIRE THIS LADY...YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I had been going back and forth with my ex for 12 years. After throwing a ton of money to previous attorneys and not making any progress i decided to make a change. After speaking with her for about 10 mins I had absolutely no doubt she was the right attorney for getting what was best for my children. She has shown me that there is hope for single fathers. She has helped explain all the legal terminology i didn't understand while consistently looking out for what is best for my children. I am happy and honored to say that I have won full custody of my 3 children and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a hardworking and extremely professional attorney who truly cares about her job.

She has amazing communication with you. Very quick and on point with any questions and all documentation pertaining to the case. We settled with other party out of court which was fabulous! I was given her as my attorney when the original departed from company, and she never missed a beat picking up where she left off on the case.

Judge Watson was far from judgmental and was very understanding of my rather embarrassing situation. She was sure to be firm with her stance on defending my offence and shared the same passion to defend me as my mom and i did. She guided us through a system we weren't familiar with and helped us not only understand it, but also not fall victim to its convoluted ways.

Teana Watson handled my sons juvenile case, which was originally two felonies and two misdemeanors. When my sons court date came it was dropped down to only two misdemeanors. This was an amazing outcome because my son is very active in sports and school and he made a bad decision. Teana asked the judge for deferred adjudication and the judge was very hesitant because of the charges. Ms. Watson got exactly what we wanted deferred adjudication, so that he can learn from this mistake and move on in a positive direction. We can't thank her enough for the outcome of this case.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Stafford, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
