The case I hired Mary for in 2023 (and finally concluded in May of 2024), dated back to 2011. It was an incredibly unique and complex case. It had to do with the mother of my daughter hiding her from me for well over 10 years and then trying to come after me for support while still not letting me be in my daughter’s life. Mary succeeded in my case with a win. In getting me joint custody and a bridge built of being re-united with my daughter. As well as proving to the courts that my daughter’s mother should not get rewarded for her actions (twice). The courts decision was something you might only see in a movie or read in a book. But it was fair, and it was just. And I am not sure anyone other than Mary would have cared enough to even get an outcome or decision like the one we got. That is my opinion, and it is how she made me, as her client, feel. She will not except anything less than what is right and what is fair and just for your child if this is a custody case. You are not going to find many attorneys, who will go to bat for your like they are doing it as if it were for their own child. Mary was able to fill a void inside me I have had for an exceptionally long time not being in my daughter’s life or even knowing where she was. In the end, if you are someone going through a divorce with a child, and you are feeling defeated or have lost hope in ever seeing your child or having someone go to bat for you like they are defending their own child. Or you have not found an attorney that you feel like you can trust and treat you, and your case as if it is as personal to them as it is to you. Look no further. Because Mary is who you want in your corner representing you. She covers all the bases, prepares with anything and everything she can to help you get a fair, and just decision for you from the courts. And does it not only for you as a client, but for your child. Her morals and integrity go beyond just being a lawyer and doing it as a job. She genuinely cares as human being, especially if there is a child involved, about what happens to your child and how it is affecting them, as well as you, her client. None of what Mary does or did for me and my case as her client, ever made me feel like I was just a dollar sign or wasn't important. She really does put her heart and soul into her work with professionalism, compassion, care, and a drive in her to make sure that what is fair, right, and just will be achieved in the outcome of your case. Not just for you, but for your child as well. Mary will not lie to you either just to get your hopes up if things are not in the cards for an outcome in your favor only to collect a paycheck. Or string you along. She will be honest, caring, and supportive with you every step of the way and go to battle for you. Her integrity, care, passion, honesty, knowledge, and skill, and just being a genuinely good human being overall. Is exactly what you want in an attorney. Especially for family law. It's why I admire her and why I hired her twice. Regardless of your situation. There is no one else I would want in my corner defending and fighting for me and my child, other than Mary! She exemplifies what it means to be an excellent attorney and a wonderful human being! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, Mary!

Child custody battles can be both financially and emotionally draining, but Mary provided unwavering support and empathy throughout the entire process. She understood the emotional toll this case had on my family, and her compassionate approach helped alleviate some of the stress. I genuinely felt that they had our best interests at heart, and her dedication to protecting my child's well-being was evident in every action she took. Mary possesses an extensive knowledge of family law and child custody matters. Her expertise in this field was evident throughout the entire process. She meticulously analyzed every aspect of my case, leaving no stone unturned. Her ability to navigate complex legal procedures and effectively communicate with all parties involved was truly remarkable. I would recommend her times, and again!

Mary is by far the best attorney in Texas. I personally used her for my own divorce with a crazy ex who continued to attempt to bring me to court for frivolous reasons. Mary won EVERY time we went to court and my ex used high dollar attorneys who cost 5x more per hour than Mary charges. The look on my ex-wife face when Mary got me full custody was priceless. She's an honest attorney and will work super hard to win your case. Very knowledgeable and will run circles over judges and attorney who attempt to make their own rules and not follow the law. Mary was so great I hired her to represent my current wife's divorce and she man handled this high price attorney and we BOTH have full custody of our kids. Mary will always be my attorney of choice and I have recommended her to family and friends with the same positive results. If I could give her 10 stars I would. Best family attorney in Texas.

I can’t say enough about Vik Vij. He represented me as my court appointed lawyer and right off the bat I knew he takes his cases seriously. He told me things were going to go and they went exactly that way and got my case dismissed. Great lawyer and an even better human. I’m definitely keeping his info in case I need representation in the future.

Sheena from Shiloh Travel and Tours helped me with my OCI Application. She was very prompt and did everything fast. I am thrilled with this service. My friend uses them for her overseas travel and I will be using them too. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without their OCI support. Thank you so much.

Proof is in the Performance: We are US citizens, retired in Mexico with family and Medicare in Houston. I've headed Nasdaq & Asian public companies from Silicon Valley for 30+ years with significant legal teams. Now we are finally focused on ourselves and personal legal representation is at the forefront. Due to an emergency medical situation February 28, 2019, we arrived at 7pm in the Methodist Hospital ER and needed full legal help--- Wills, DNR, Hippa, Pwr of Atty, +. T-G, PLLC only had 24 hours to prepare all documents, come to the ER on a Cold and rainy night, bring a witness and a Notary Public and explain clearly ALL to us. WOW! Ms. Grubbs is a valued professional with an easy demeanor and total grasp of what's needed. We are most impressed, pleased with the documents and her personal caring service. Thank you Betsy.

When I was inundated with several pages of contract terms I didn't quite understand, I hired Teltschik-Grubbs. Betsy was very professional and deciphered all the "legal jargon" into something I could understand. She saw my contract term negotiations through to the end. I'm thankful I hired them cause I could have been at great risk on a "one-sided" contract.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Sugar Land, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
