She won't do what's right!!! I hired her and it was the worst decision for me and my child. Go elsewhere if you want true results.

Suzanne and her staff are wonderful! She really cares about her clients. A divorce is tricky, at best, and she can only promise to give it all she can. She gave me great advise and offered several solutions. She was also very frugal with her billing and that was so much appreciated. Her staff is also very helpful and make sure Suzznne gets your message or concern. And she WILL respond quickly, not like some attorneys. When it was finally over in court, she gave me a big hug.

I hired Suzanne to represent me in my divorce and from the moment I met her I knew I chose right. She was referred by a friend and for good reason. I felt very uneasy about the whole process (obviously) but Suzanne always had a way of putting me at ease. She always made me feel better and was always very forward and honest. I would recommend her to anyone I talk to. I am very pleased with the outcome of my case and look forward to working with her more in the future if needed.

I really didn't know what to do when I received the traffic violation so I contacted Todd Lehn's office. I saw that he had great reviews and they were correct. He and his staff were very professional and considerate . If I needed to have a question answered they were always there to answer it. If you have a need for an attorney in his area of expertise don't hesitate to contact him. He and his staff will do an excellent job for you.

After reading all the reviews, I back them up 100%. You cannot pick a more dependable, sympathetic, and hard-working lawyer. Matt makes you feel like your case is extremely important and sees it through from day 1 until it is settled. I would hire Matt again for any legal need, big or small.

From the first phone call, I knew that we had made the right choice. With this said, I am not a trusting person by nature, especially when it is difficult to conduct business face-to-face, due to covid. I have spent the past (3) months talking and emailing back and forth with Mr. Mussalli with regards to my situation...without ever being able to look into his eyes and make a decision on his trustworthiness. Mr. Mussalli guided my wife and I through this difficult situation with my business. He propped us up when we were feeling unstable, he pushed us along when our stubbornness began to take hold, and all the while keeping his calm and encouraging us to do the same. He did all of this with the many obstacles that we are all facing, but with illness within his own family as well. As I have now read his other 5-Star reviews here, it appears that this was not a one-off situation. While our circumstances were different than all of the other reviews, our encounter was exactly the same. To put a bow on it...in our eyes, Matt Mussalli is a Fantastic Person First and an Accomplished Lawyer Second! Very easy to talk to, extremely fair and transparent on billing, and really knows how to listen to your needs...as well as manage your expectations. I don't ever want to "need" Mr. Mussalli again, but I will not hesitate to contact him if needed and I would recommend him to ANYONE who is in need of an intelligent, compassionate friend, who happens to also be a Great Lawyer! We cannot thank him enough!!!

I worked with Matt and Ana on a divorce case that was supposed to be quick and straightforward, but the other party made it incredibly challenging, as expected. Despite numerous obstacles, including the other party joining the Army and refusing service multiple times, Ana never gave up. She consistently strategized and found ways to move the process forward. She went above and beyond, even reaching out to JAG officers at the Army base and navigating their bureaucracy. Thanks to her determination and expertise, they successfully resolved the case, leaving everything free and clear. I’m deeply grateful for their hard work and highly recommend them to anyone in need of a reliable and dedicated attorney in Houston.

Mr. Horak offered utmost professionalism and care while having Felony charges against me dismissed. My case was an emotionally exhausting case with too many complexities involved but Mr. Horak strategic thinking helped me achieve a favorable outcome. The paralegal staff was also courteous and prompt in their responses. I am very glad to have Mr. Horak as my attorney.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of The Woodlands, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
