Thank you attorney Brandon for getting settlement from the insurance. This was my first time and he went over everything I needed to know.

This is a great team! They handle everything from contacting you to customer service with excellent professionalism. It's hard these days to come across companies that are on top of everything and this team is it. I really appreciated their help and will come back to them if anything else comes up. Thank you!!!

**WARNING DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS LAW FIRM** FAKE REVIEWS!!! RUDE/UNPROFESSIONAL/DON’T COMMUNICATE. SEE UNPROFESSIONAL EMAIL COMMUNICATION ATTACHED!!! I too was referred by my adjuster to this unprofessional law firm. Chad T. Wilson seems to be paying people to give the law firm good ratings and it is very deceiving. I will be reporting them to Fake Review Watch, Better Business Bureau, and the State Bar of Texas. I have been in limbo for almost 2 years, and nothing has been done to resolve my case. I had to constantly reach out to Michael Jack who NEVER had a decent update on my suit and was rude and unprofessional when questioned on the status of my case. Also, in the middle of my case (as many reviews mentioned here) a new attorney was assigned prolonging this case even more. To this date, I am still waiting for a settlement, and unfortunately after Beryl, I now have additional damage to my roof, and nothing has been resolved

Please do not hire this law firm. They will not communicate with you especially switching your lawyers. I hadn't heard from them for over a year and after calling them and leaving voicemail, a new lawyer named Milensky reached out to me. They never even fought for my case and never even countered or contacted my insurance company. (Do your homework by looking up your own case on Online Civil Docket Search). Every employee there is incompetent and even the owner did not know what was going on most of the time. Chad T. Wilson is obnoxious and just accusatory without doing any homework about his clients. I will file a suit against Mr. Milensky and him and they will definitely lose their license.

If only I had found her sooner!! We hired Stacey Valdez and Associates a little late in our game but they were extremely prompt and professional from the jump. They corrected so many errors the previous attorney made, and completely turned our sinking ship around. Stacey is no nonsense and made sure I was informed about my case the entire way through. I have and will recommend her to anybody looking for a straight to business attorney.

I recently hired Stacey for a custody case. Stacey’s team took their time and gave attention to detail to present all the information possible to fight for my case. Stacey was very direct and did not back down in court. Would highly recommend her and her team!

I can not speak highly enough of Stacey Valdez and Associates. After months of researching other lawyers, and interviewing my top choices, Stacey stood out head and shoulders above her peers. After working with her and the wonderful people in her office since May 2019 (my case is dragging on because of the opposing party and COVID shut-downs of the court), I can honestly say that I made the right choice with her. She is extremely knowledgeable of her subject matter and she also knows all the local players quite well. She is highly respected by other lawyers and judges and by me as well. Her staff is competent and friendly.

Robert is an absolutely brilliant attorney. He has been my attorney for over 20 years. Back in 2000, another attorney highly recommended him to me after she went toe-to-toe with him in the courtroom (she lost but rather than being a sore loser, she admired his talent/skills). Since then, he has exceeded my expectations in many legal matters (real estate, business owner, personal, etc.). His ability to listen to the client's needs, serve up solutions and solve problems in a timely manner is priceless. In addition, he is quick to respond and always available (even when he is on vacation!). Dealing with legal issues can be quite stressful and emotional but Robert's calm, pragmatic demeanor always calms me down. I am so grateful to have found an attorney with such integrity, professionalism, and passion. If you are looking for a first class attorney, Robert should be your first choice.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Webster, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
