Ben Carrasco is a hero in my family. His exceptional legal expertise and unwavering dedication helped me achieve primary custody of my young child—a rare outcome for fathers, especially with infants and toddlers. From the very beginning, Ben was the right person for the job, guiding us through a complex and highly contentious case with strategic brilliance. In any contested custody case, there are two competing narratives. The challenge lies in determining which narrative is most rooted in fact and objective evidence. Ben's courtroom prowess is unparalleled in navigating this challenge. He advocated tirelessly for me and my child, presenting our case with concrete evidence and clear, compelling arguments. By meticulously buttressing our position with indisputable facts, he was instrumental in securing a positive outcome and a safer future for my child. His sharp cross-examinations and strategic approach left a lasting impression. Ben deftly navigated legal complexities, consistently highlighting the strengths of our case while maintaining the utmost professionalism. His command of the courtroom truly made all the difference. Not only did Ben's efforts highlight the merits of our case, but he also helped illuminate my dedication as a father. His belief in me and his ability to convey that effectively were pivotal in ensuring the best interests of my child were upheld. Despite the odds stacked against us, his tenacity led to a series of successes that protected my child's well-being. Ben was always available when I needed him, even working weekends to address urgent matters. His commitment provided immense reassurance during a challenging time, and his guidance and support were invaluable. I cannot recommend Ben Carrasco highly enough. If you're facing a difficult legal battle, especially one involving custody, Ben is the attorney you want by your side. His record of success speaks for itself, and his dedication to his clients is unparalleled.

Hire him! You will not be disappointed! I wish I had hired Mr. Carrasco to represent me from the very beginning. He took on my case about half way through and it made all the difference. He is honest, direct, gives great insight and advice, and works very hard for you and your goals. He took time to explain the things I did not understand and was patient with me. He is extremely ethical, and operates outside of the boys club that is family law. You will not have to question if he is on your side while representing you. And when it comes to cross examination he will blow you away! I am forever grateful for him and his commitment to my case.

I was being sued and was assigned Mrs. Rasmus by my insurance company. I was grateful for this!! Mrs. Rasmus handles herself in a very professional manner and unlike the prosecuting attorney, was very well spoken. Even after the prosecuting attorney hired an additional lawyer for assistance, Mrs. Rasmus was unphased and continued to win the case against me. Since this was my first time being sued and entering a courtroom, Mrs. Rasmus was very thorough and let me know what was happening every step of the way. She was also very thorough in her research on the facts and pointed out a few items that even I had overlooked concerning the case. She remained calm at all times which I believe was an important factor that conveyed her knowledge and honesty to the jury. The prosecuting attorney couldn't make complete sentences and every other word was "uh" or "and", which made it very hard to follow her way of thinking. Mrs. Rasmus was very direct, audible and passionate with her statements which exuded confidence and maturity. I will be forever greatful for Mrs. Rasmus experience and service. I highly recommend her to anyone needing representation!!!

We could not have asked for better representation in the pursuit of our case. We went through multiple hearings throughout the 3 year litigation process, all with outcomes in our favor. Not only were we defended with the utmost integrity and professionalism, we were guided and prepped throughout the process and felt very confident in how our case was presented. Ms. Arambula is passionate about her client's case and their right to legal representation, and you can tell that she truly cares about justice being served. Extremely qualified, quick to pivot to address challenges, and the ability to present herself with dignity and poise when faced with irrational opposing counsel. I would highly recommend her to represent anyone who needed these services.

Belinda Arambula represented me during a 4-year litigation that resulted in a win in February of 2024. She went toe-to-toe against 5 lawyers and 2 paras during a jury trial that lasted 3 days. During our trial, she was prepared, professional, and poised despite being lied about, yelled at, and (incorrectly) discredited in front of the court. We faced many unfair decisions during our case and she exercised every opportunity for justice for me. In the end, she represented me fairly and to the best of her ability. She is brilliant and can pivot on a dime as the case requires. She is an exceptional lawyer that I will not hesitate to reach out to again if needed.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of West Lake Hills, Texas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
