We have known and dealt with Eric for quite a few years. Our reason for visits have been varied - from an adoption to a complaint falsely made against us. Eric has always been patient and listens to our reasons and concerns for the visit. He explains our options, the how and why's, and gives us the advice we need to make a decision. We've always been very pleased with the outcome of each visit, and have always been confident of the choices we made and the results. Eric has always been pleasant and caring. We know he is genuinely concerned that we get the information we need. When things aren't quite what we expected/wanted, he has made sure we understand the ins and outs of the laws and methods applicable to the situation and how it works. It's always been a pleasure to work with Eric.

I sought help from Mr. Paulson's office in dealing with a family law case that represented a significant but unnecessary expense. My wife is acquainted with him and his work, and recommended him to me in connection with my case. Mr. Paulson quickly identified the best course to take, and explained every step of the process as it unfolded. My experience was like watching an expert chess player at work. It was apparent all along that his priority was providing the best representation to me as his client, and I appreciated how attentive and engaged he was. When the other party did some unexpected and unconventional things, he knew what to do in response. He took almost as much personal pleasure in the successful outcome of the case as I did. The outcome was actually a win for all parties involved: I was relieved of a significant monthly expense, and the other party now enjoys better, more secure financial support. I would recommend Mr. Paulson's services to anyone with a legal problem he is willing to handle.

When I needed to retain a attorney I reached out to others I knew and trusted. The name that kept being shared with me was Eric Paulson. I had never retained an attorney and I was experiencing a great loss and emotions seemed to drive so many decisions at this time. Eric was a great combination of compassion and reality. He walked me through what had to be done, he educated me on the realities of the law. He was professional and responsive to emails. Due to uniqueness of my case, the normal paperwork was complicated and Eric patiently worked with me and made it work. Eric allowed me to show emotion and let me know when those emotions were taking control of my decisions, for which I am grateful. The Law Office of Eric P. Paulson was the attorney I needed! Eric represented me, respected me and the outcome of my case. I would recommend Eric to anyone seeking true representation.

I had a 10/10 experience from start to finish! First off I met with Clay(super funny and honest guy) and I gave him a run down on my situation and he told me pretty much how my case was going to go and how much it would cost and how long it would take. All of those things they followed through with and I had no surprises during the process. Andrew was in charge of my case and kept me up to date each week and answered any and all questions I had for him. Kayelise was amazing keeping me up to date when it came to billing questions and also all other questions I had. Great communication throughout the process and super easy to get a hold of whenever I had questions.

Brad has been my Lawyer for about 3 years or more. Back then I originally hired him to help with business issues and advice. Recently I had a major Landlord/Lease problem where my business is located. As a tenant I was caught in between a new buyer and the seller of a multi property sale. It got ugly, but Brad had my back the entire time. He sat me down and walked me through what the next 8 weeks was going to look like if we had to go to court. Bottom line he and I not only avoided court and got to stay in the property, we even negotiated and made them sell my shop to me and now I own the property. Highly recommend.

Weber Law was helpful in resolving a down payment issue I had with a roofing company. The 2 attorneys I worked along with were thorough and acted quickly to have my money returned to me which the company originally refused to give back. I would highly recommend Weber Law to anyone that is in need of resolving and issue they may have with small or large businesses

In general I would not recommend this firm because they seem to be the typical law firm that tries to take advantage of billing situations however they can. I was referred to them from a network and they were supposed to apply a 25% discount but never did. To me that just shows how unethical they are in not honoring it so who knows how ethical they are in everything else they do. That being said I hired them to review a contract for me and they fulfilled the work sufficiently. I didn't have any complaints with their actual work (hence 2 stars instead of 1 star review).

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

  10. Are there alternative ways to resolve my legal issue?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of American Fork, Utah?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
