I moved out of an apartment in 2006 due to the fact that I was unemployed at the time and I was receiving assistance from a family member with help paying my rent. That family member passed away and I was forced to move out when my lease was up because I could not afford the rent. When I moved I was not behind, I called the owner to let him know that I was moving out. He indicated that I needed to give him written notice, I was unable to that because I was trying to move out and had already found a new apartment so I left it at that. I had 99% of my belongings moved out and I was going to clean the apartment but didn't due to the nasty treatment I experienced at the hands of Kirk Cullimore and his minons. I put a couch out on the street and he threatened to call the police on me and have me arrested, I had no other way to dispose of the couch due to having no transportation. Kirk went so far as to threaten to go after my relative who had passed away (she had to be a co-signer on the lease) and also threatened to come after my mother who had nothing to do with the situation. Regardless, imagine my surprise when I get a phone call from Salt Lake City Police Department telling me to come pick up my belongings, at this point I had no idea that any of my items were at the police department. I arrived at the police station and realized that all of the items that were removed from my property by one of the Cullimore minons was property from my front hall closet (a couple of jackets and some odds and ends), they were holding my items hostage hoping that it would provide some leverage in getting me to pay. Might I add, removing property and holding it is illegal but I didn't even notice it was gone because what he was holding was unimportant really. Anyhow, I made the mistake of sending a resume to Elite Design & Repair (Cullimore's client) and from that resume they decided to take me to court 4 years later. So we went to court and I was told to fill out a form with my SSN#, current address, any dependents, bank information and any asset information...I refused. The attorney then put me on the stand and TRIED to force me to answer the same questions that were on the form, I again refused to answer multiple questions so in the end Cullimore did not get what he wanted and it felt GREAT. I must add that my initial debt was 1 month of rent which was jacked up to $2000 they were suing me for, he didn't get that either, he get a $700 judgment. I tried to work out a payment plan, I told his snot of a secretary/receptionist what I could pay and I was told that after a period of time (I believe either 3 or 6 months) that I would have to pay more than what I said I could initially pay so I said, no and that is when I got my court papers. You are a dick Kirk and so are the people who work for you!! Anytime I see that you are the attorney for a complex I run because you are simply a bottom feeding debt collector.

Rude and inconsiderate. I was attempting to work with them because of a because of a bogus claim by an ex landlord from about 4 years ago. I told them I was working with a debt recovery business, with whom I had requested a validation of debt. Instead of sending it to the debt recovery business, they never made further contact with them and instead, sent me the paperwork without notifying me they would not be dealing with my recovery specialist as I had requested. 2 days before Christmas, my wife is startled someone pounding on our door hard enough to cause things on the wall to fall, who outright lied to her saying he had attempted to ring the doorbell. He shoved a summons in her face and said nothing more. I proceeded to call them as my specialist is out of the office for the holiday and the woman that answered refused to be of any help insisting that "this is your debt". Yes, I know this is my supposed debt, which I have issues with and also which is why I was trying to work with them. If someone is attempting to work with you, it might be nice to reciprocate.

I'm an independent landlord who came across a tenant who refused to leave after lease had ended, even with proper notice. When I needed to turn it into a forced eviction, the Utah Apartment Association strongly recommended Kirk A. Cullimore as the quickest and easiest law firm to handle the eviction and they did not disappoint. I went from initial notice to lock-out in 2 weeks. They were very patient with my questions throughout the process and they have a website that has all the updates along the way. Highly recommend them based on my experience.
