My first contact with this company was through a mailer I received a couple days after I received my citation. I also received a couple other mailers from other law firms around the same time however did not contact any of them for about 3 months. Once the court hearing was closely approaching, I decided to start doing my due diligence. After reviewing the other law firms I decided to call "The Legal Boys" based off their positive feedback. My experience with the company was great even though I did not ultimately use them since I agreed to the plea, however made the educated decision to do so. When I contacted the company the rep who answered the phone was courteous, professional but down to earth. Once informing her of the situation she immediately got an attorney on the line to speak with me(believe his name was Joe). We spoke for almost an hour. Not once did he rush to close the call, no high pressure sales nor did he use any sort of fear mongering tactics. Just an honest conversation about the situation, possibilities, likely outcome based off his decades of experience, recommendations, advice moving forward, and information needed so I may make an educated decision. The company even followed up with me after my telephonic appearance(I live out of state) to find how things played out. Great organization, seems like they truly have the clients best interests in mind. Overall I would highly recommend the company, thank you for helping me out with the challenge I was facing! Forever grateful for the time the law firm invested in me AND many others, I'm sure, that didn't take the time to post a review.

My husband was looking at some serious charges. They were able to get the matter resolved and had the charges lowered significantly. They were worth every cent.

I was dealing with the legal system for the first time in my life and was very stressed out. When I was looking through the literal stack of letters you get from lawyers, the only one that stuck out was The Legal Boys. They not only put me at ease during the entire process, they have been very easy and understanding with making payment arrangements with me before and during the pandemic. They are truly on your side! I cannot recement them enough!

Felt like they didn't fight for me. Even brought another attorney in to tell me to just plead guilty. Also, they don't work on your case, you pay 1500 for them to hire a lawyer for your case.

The initial thing I noticed that set The Legal Boys apart from everyone else is how kind each and every person I interacted with is. I never felt like I was rushed when it came to any question I may have had and was not limited to the number of times I reached out to them. They were always very accessible when it came to getting ahold of them as I could call or text, alike. As for William, I knew from the very first conversation we had that he was the right guy for me for my particular case. He made me feel at ease about my circumstance, and I honestly never had any doubt about us achieving the goal we set out to achieve. And, in the end, he proved me right. Without getting into too much detail about my personal situation, let’s just say that I pretty much didn’t have to do anything, talk to anyone, or make any appearances. And, just like that, everything is now all behind me, and I’m happy as can be! Thanks again to all who assisted me with my case!

David did work for me in an appeal before the Utah Court of Appeals. You can see by my rating of him that I was very pleased with his work but what simple "stars" don't indicate are the degree to which this young man worked with me every step of the way to do things "my way". To say that I am demanding is an understatement, and David paid close attention to my needs, wants and desires throughout the process. I couldn't ask for more.

I am so thankful for Hale & Wood and Micheal Garrett ( trust & estate lawyer) for helping me plan my personal estate and helping me establish a functional trust with my inheritance after my father passed . I honestly can say I feel their firm and lawyers are among the few left that genuinely care about their clients needs and go the extra mile to make sure they are satisfied.I see how other firms treat their clients with no regard to their needs or feelings just their checkbook. I absolutely highly recommend this firm and trust my lawyer 100 % to know my family will be in good hands always . Thank you Micheal.

The whole process of setting up a family trust and decanting resources was painless, which is certainly not something you can say about legal paperwork generally! Foxhall is a beautiful setting, and Zach had got everything he needed by email, and so walked us through the ~70 page document in less than an hour, with notaries and witnesses on hand to get everything squared away. He helped resolve the numerous complicated dangling strings of my parents' financial situation clearly and quickly by text and email. Affordable. Quick. Knowledgeable.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Holladay, Utah?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
