Meetings with Rose were combative, unprofessional and stressful. She would purposefully use convoluted and nonsensical language and when you tried to get clarification she would become angry and aggressive. She seemed to have an antipathy for women in particular. We would agree with the other reviewer here suggesting mental decline. It would explain her otherwise inexplicable behavior. Do NOT recommend.

If you're looking for a lawyer who looks and acts unprofessional looks down her nose at you, and is completely rude, Rose is it! I had a consultation today and upon entering her office was asked to fill out a bunch of paperwork with sensitive information. The poor guy at the front office said it was fine if I didn't fill in everything. When purple hair Rose appeared she immediately said I could fill out all of the infomation or I could leave. When I tried to explain why I didn't want to share sensitive information to an attorneiy I had not hired, she immediately cut me off and told me she was a lawyer and I would do what she says or I could leave. So I left. Oh and by the way, the fibers from the pillows on the couch make it look there is cat hair all over it. Gross.

She did absolutely zero for me, and would go weeks without responding to my calls or emails. Once I fired her she claimed she had several calls to opposing council (not confirmed by opposing council) and kept all of my retainer. She is completely incompetent and I think is losing her mind ( dementia ?? )

The most unprofessional expeierence I have ever had. You can never get ahold of her or anyone that works for her I went 6 months one time without hearing anything or having them respond to my calls or emails. One time her office called me with less than an hour of notice that we had a Pretrial hearing that morning. The last encounter I had with her I asked her why she never responded to the emails she stood up out of her chair got so defensive started raising her voice calling me poor and I could never afford for her to do what I thought she needed to do it was so unprofessional. She actually said to me that I should have told her what to tell or show the judge. My response was I don't know the law and her exact words after that was "neither do I." She did absolutely nothing of help for me. Would never recommend to anyone.

Blake is not only my friend and my co-worker, but he is also my attorney. As a co-worker, I have seen him fight tooth and nail to provide justice to those who have been injured by another's neglect. I have seen him put himself in his client's shoes and become personally invested in each and every case. I have seen him work countless hours researching and taking notes and bouncing ideas off of colleagues to make sure he's representing his client's in the best way possible. As my attorney, I have personally witnessed his attention to detail in every aspect of my case. I have felt his sincere desire to represent me as best he can by making himself knowledgeable about brain injuries and carbon monoxide. Even through my shortcomings, he takes the time to explain things to me and make sure I understand everything and feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. As my friend, I have felt his unwavering support while my family and I struggle through this long and exhausting process. He has seen my tears, my frustrations, my hopes and my fears as I have dealt with doctor after doctor and appointment after appointment. I would recommend Blake to any one that I know who has been injured by someone else's neglect.

I have two cases with Blake and I feel very confident in his ability to help me with either of them. He has a different approach to each of them and is equally invested in both of them. I know that Blake will fight for me.

I have been very happy with Blake as the attorney on my case. He's very passionate about the law and helping provide justice to those who deserve it. I really feel like Blake has been fighting for me through this entire process. He's been very open and honest with me about what to expect and walked me through every step of the way. I'm grateful to have an attorney who fights for me and for what is right.

My wife and I have hired Mr. Turner to not only assist us to setup our Trust, Wills, etc, he has also helped us craft an Asset Protection Blueprint/strategy for our businesses, investments and personal assets. He is able to communicate clearly and effectively with us as we've had questions and brought in our tax attorney, insurance agent & accountant for consultation, guidance and planning. Only positive experiences and reasonably priced for the quality of services. We've sent family to him for their "Asset Protection Blueprint" plans & implementations as well.

Hands down, Kenny Christiansen and Mindi Bartlam are a fantastic team. Although my case was complex and trying, they fought and held my hand through every step. Kenny and Mindy are professional and knowledgeable, and they made it feel more personal and considerate of the sensitive nature of our case. Kenny and Mindi have become more than excellent representations; I dare to call them friends.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Orem, Utah?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
