I cannot believe this guy is still allowed to practice. Most incompetent attorney I’ve ever dealt with. Makes promises he can’t keep, gives horrible advice on which you base decisions, then ducks out when called on it. Gets in way over his head and tries to do things beyond his scope of practice, then leaves you holding the ball. I filed a massively documented complaint against him with the Bar, and they protected him. Just Google his history, though… then RUN!

Gary Blatter should lose his license. He is the definition of dishonest. He should not be a practicing lawyer. You tell him 2 + 2 = 4. He will report to the judge that 2 + 2 = 5. All he does is misrepresent and mischaracterize the facts of the case, ie: makes false statements, ie: lies.

Gary has been my lawyer for 15 years. I cannot say enough good things about him. He has never failed me no matter how difficult my situation. He handled 2 child custody cases for me, and I was awarded sole custody of my (3 year old) daughter, and later awarded primary physical of my (2 year old) son. Different moms with completely different challenges to over come. Any father going through this process knows how amazing this outcome is. He has also helped through the difficulty of domestic issues, and has always been straight forward, and told me how I was making mistakes, and how to correct myself when I needed to hear it. I have immense respect for Gary on a professional level, and even more respect for him as a caring human being. I was always treated with dignity and respect. His bill was always fair, and more affordable than any other attorney I have used.

Mr. Blatter has been my attorney for over 10 years. I go to him for many of my legal needs. I appreciated the way he (and his staff members) would quickly communicate if my case was continued, cancelled, or postponed for whatever reason. I my questions were always answered and it was easy to communicate via Email, phone, or post. He pays attention to detail and really knows his stuff. He was professional in and out of court. I also appreciate the fact they were able to work out a payment plan with me. I have recommended Mr. Blatter to friends and family and will continue to do so.

My Experience and history with Mr. Blatter goes back many years. He was the attorney who represented my father with a family trust. Two days after my dads death the frustration began. This continued for years in civil court with filings for continuences, continuences, continuences, as well as misconduct in real estate distributions and sale of property. I sincerely hope anyone will think twice, do your own research and then consider not hiring this person that unfortunately has a law degree. Unless of course you have years to spend in court, and money to spend on costs that will go directly into Mr. Gary Blatters pocket.

Blake is not only my friend and my co-worker, but he is also my attorney. As a co-worker, I have seen him fight tooth and nail to provide justice to those who have been injured by another's neglect. I have seen him put himself in his client's shoes and become personally invested in each and every case. I have seen him work countless hours researching and taking notes and bouncing ideas off of colleagues to make sure he's representing his client's in the best way possible. As my attorney, I have personally witnessed his attention to detail in every aspect of my case. I have felt his sincere desire to represent me as best he can by making himself knowledgeable about brain injuries and carbon monoxide. Even through my shortcomings, he takes the time to explain things to me and make sure I understand everything and feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. As my friend, I have felt his unwavering support while my family and I struggle through this long and exhausting process. He has seen my tears, my frustrations, my hopes and my fears as I have dealt with doctor after doctor and appointment after appointment. I would recommend Blake to any one that I know who has been injured by someone else's neglect.

I have two cases with Blake and I feel very confident in his ability to help me with either of them. He has a different approach to each of them and is equally invested in both of them. I know that Blake will fight for me.

My wife and I have hired Mr. Turner to not only assist us to setup our Trust, Wills, etc, he has also helped us craft an Asset Protection Blueprint/strategy for our businesses, investments and personal assets. He is able to communicate clearly and effectively with us as we've had questions and brought in our tax attorney, insurance agent & accountant for consultation, guidance and planning. Only positive experiences and reasonably priced for the quality of services. We've sent family to him for their "Asset Protection Blueprint" plans & implementations as well.

Hands down, Kenny Christiansen and Mindi Bartlam are a fantastic team. Although my case was complex and trying, they fought and held my hand through every step. Kenny and Mindy are professional and knowledgeable, and they made it feel more personal and considerate of the sensitive nature of our case. Kenny and Mindi have become more than excellent representations; I dare to call them friends.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Orem, Utah?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
