September 2023 my car was hit from behind and the side as we were getting off the freeway. As I was looking for a place to pull over I saw the truck that had hit me speed off and was trying to get away by turning right at the first intersection. I made a quick decision to follow the truck and try to get a license plate in a bucketful of adrenaline. He finally pulled over when he could see I was video recording his “getaway”. Cops were called and it seemed he didn’t have Insurance. I drove a nice Range Rover and was wondering how this would all work out. Thank heavens I had opted in on uninsured motorist coverage. I fell into a dark hole that had taken me years to even begin to crawl out of in the previous 8 years of chronic pain, medical trauma, occipital neuralgia, occipital nerve decompression surgery, 2 previous disc replacement surgeries in my cervical spine, years previous to this vertigo and now this? I was terrified I was back in the beginning of a new nightmare as everything hurt again and more. And now pretty traumatized from the chase down to boot. I have never felt so scared or alone in all my life with now new issues to deal with medically. With my husband helping me decide I called Craig Swapp with some of the last energy I had. I had kind of resigned to the fact that any progress I had made was over and I’d just be back in my bed for the majority of my life. Because that had been a reality for me several years previously. But through these horrific years so much hard work, doctor after doctor and hand over fist money being paid out I had made some pretty big improvements and was enjoying life again. And now this? My first meeting with the man they sent to my house (I can believe I don’t remember his name) I cried and cried because he was a great listener and he allowed me that. He explained how he knew they could help me in this difficult situation with an uninsured motorist and how I would be taken care of through the process and could hopefully feel as good as I had the day before I was in the accident. I had no where else to turn, especially knowing the medical system I’d been through the past 8 years and I felt a genuine hand being held out to me. I knew I needed their help or I’d be setting myself up for an even longer harder road. There was the stigma and terrible feeling that goes along with something like this AND I knew I had no choice. I was assigned an attorney that explained things well and in a way I could understand. He always took the time I needed with him and was patient with my questions and my hesitancy. He arranged for all my upcoming tests and appointments and all I had to do was get there. He kept me in the loop and cared about me each step of the way checking in to see how I was doing and how I was handling it all. I felt like he was a friend that really cared about me. I spoke with a few other people from their office from time to time and they were always compassionate and cared about the things I was experiencing. I always felt heard and understood and that I had someone that was helping me through the decisions and the struggle of the set backs I’d experienced. I just heard from Rose this morning and she told me they had reached an acceptable agreement on the settlement. They had worked hard in countering an offer made last week and this seemed much more fair in a really unfair situation. Such is life right? It’s not fair. But I am grateful for my team at Craig Swapp and what they were able to do for me in this uninsured motorist claim. Without them I honestly do not know where I’d be physically or mentally. Thank you all for your kindness and help getting me through this past year and on to brighter days ahead.
