After 6 years 3 hearings, 3 remands… Dianna physically got my case looked at and didn’t stop until she was heard. (They had violated my constitutional rights) and she made sure it was recognized. (In total the case was 10 years old) she didn’t have to take it back on after social security made a huge error and as the ALJ said “created a hardship”. Which is very true. I won’t bore you with the details and, she really came through for me. (It’s such a relief) She’s really wonderful. She knows her stuff and doesn’t quit. It’s remarkable!

Some clients believe they have control of Eve thing from the time you file that is just not true. I work with customers and they may enter into an agreement but if something happens and they don’t follow what you agreed torches want special treatment my court case is just coming up and they have started to inform me of what will take place we need to be patient and at the right time they will do everything possible Jackson Chapman is in charge of letting me know what take place and when it will be 2 years when I meet with the judge and the attorney can not do anything until that time and SSA love to delay and get you upset so you give up be patient and do your part I get it it has been 2 years and I get more in debt every month but that is not Cannons fault that is the government wanting you to give up!

Pros
1
Diligent and effective representation in disability cases
“Dianna Cannon and associates go above and beyond to help you in every way possible. They are with you every step of the way, and like I said go way above and beyond to make sure you get what you deserve.”
2
Supportive and compassionate staff
“Everyone in the office was conscience and sensitive to my issues. They were all so patient, and willing to answer my questions, and ready to reassure me through my process.”
3
Successful track record in winning disability cases
“She won my case and I didn't have to wait for a hearing. I'm so relieved. I recommend that if you need help with your disability case you call her firm.”
4
Thorough preparation and guidance for clients
“She prepared me for the hearing in advance and her paralegal, Andria, was very helpful to me as well. I couldn't be happier with their services.”
5
Dedication to fighting for client's rights
“She went to bat for me in court and I got my first check yesterday. After getting denied three times, it is a real relief to be able to have some money coming in to support me and my family.”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and responsiveness
“Communication with this firm happened when I intiated it and only if I persisted. Initially I believed my case was being handled professionally, but after a few years I lost that confidence.”
2
Mishandling of cases and failure to deliver expected outcomes
“In 2011 her firm was able to to get me on sii disability but one and a half months ago I lost my benefits I don't know how this happened because I have permanent brain damage so somehow her firm completely mishandled my case.”
3
Unreliable and unethical practices
“They had been "working" on my case for 2 years. I say "working" because I was the one that went and gathered and paid for my own medical records, because "we wouldn't want to have to collect them ourselves and then charge you".”

Jonathon Jemming will get you the best outcome possible. On top of being well connected inside the legal system, he is diligent in reviewing all aspects of your case and transparent about each step of the process. I was never left wondering what would happen next. He is quick to reach out with any new information on the case, and always responds quickly to any questions you may have. I would recommend Jemming Law to any of my acquaintances.

Working with Mr. Jemming has been absolutely fantastic. He is understanding and informative, helping me make decisions that work best for me in my case. Mr. Jemming explained the consequences for both sides of either fighting the case or taking a deal. I decided to fight, and the outcome thus far as been in my favor. Thank you to Jemming Law I was able to make an informed decision and come out on top because of the knowledge Mr. Jemming provided to me before hand. I know that Jemming Law is the best defense I could ask for and that I have put my faith in the right hands.

Before every step he lays out all of what is going to happen and is sure to answer any questions you need. Very timely to respond to inquiries or reach out if new information arises. Looked over the minor details of my case to bring up and use to my advantage. Did calls before court appearances to explain what advantages and disadvantages l there were in the case and after to explain what everything meant and any court jargon I was confused with. Acquired a surprising and positive verdict for me while showing honor and determination.

She made sure charges were never filed against me when I was falsly being accused. She jumped right in and started contacting the detective and interview my witnesses. She helped my wife and I through the most terrifying experience of our lives.

Walter represented me in a medical malpractice case. My wife and I immediately felt good about him. He was always professional and polite. He was really good about educating us on the situation and explaining things for us in a way that didn't feel condescending at all. We settled the case before we went to trial and felt very good about everything Walter was able to do for us. We felt like he cared, and just overall was a very nice, genuine guy who was there to help us in matters we were not capable of doing ourselves. Walter called when he had questions about details to make sure he had it right, so he could be as prepared as possible. He worked very hard on my case and was very well educated in his field. I always felt 100% confident in him and I feel very thankful to him and the DKOW firm.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the expected timeline for my case?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Slc, Utah?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
