These people really care about employees in the workplace being wronged! They are a big firm with a lot of process that made me skeptical, but it is linear and efficient and each person was kind and understanding. I was hesitant to pay a retainer before a consult to determine if I even have a case. The details were complex and the team had to do a lot of due diligence. In the end we decided it is not worth the efforts to move forward and they honored their agreement at a capped price for the due diligence even if they spent more hours. I received my retainer balance refund promptly. Thank you for being a silver lining in a dark cloud!

I wanted to update my review after having time to reflect and have been able to gauge against another legal issue. At first I was happy with Spiggle and I have no complaints regarding the lawyer assigned to my case. It was everything else that I find troubling. FIrst I had spoken to several law firms prior to my consult with Spiggle and with those other law firms as I was discussisng the legal issue at hand, the consult was with an attorney who could gauge my case and whether I had a legal issue etc. However when I made my consult with Spiggle I realized after the fact that my consult was not with an attorney and it was probably my fault to assume but when I am discussing a legal issue, I would have thought a lawyer would be the one providing advice...So when I paid my retainer, the lawyer I was assigned to had no idea about my case. My second problem is my legal issue consisted of seeing a judge once, a mediation meeting and trying to sort out the terms of the settlement. By the time of my initial hearing, about four weeks after I retained Spiggle, I was billed $8K just to prepare documents? One specific thing that stuck out to me was not only was I billed by the attorney but also the paralegal. For instance if I emailed the attorney, I was billed by the paralegal to "review" and then also my attorney. i was actually billed to "review and assess" at 20 minutes a brief email proving the phone numbers to call in to a meeting. It took me literally 30 seconds to read the email and dial a number. The other issue I had was when I received the first $2K bill roughly three weeks after I retained Spiggle, I assumed that was the first billl. In my mind it had only been three week, consisting of a couple phone calls and emails along with the first hearing. But when I emailed the staff member asking whether the bill was $2K more or deducted from the $8K retainer, I was never able to get a straight answer. In fact I specifically asked whether I needed to prepare myself for $5-7K a month legal fees because if that was the case, I would go to another firm whom quoted me a third of the cost. The fact is my retainer was gone before I actually had my initial meeting with the attorney. When we finally signed the settlement agreement I figured it was doen and over. I expected a bill from the attorney for closing it out but imagine my shock when I was sent another $3K basically filing papers? i Had to demand all work to cease telling Spiggle they could burn my file because it made no difference to me because I had already spent 16K. I was naive so please don't make my costly mistake. The hourly rates for the paralegals is as much as what other lawyers were going to charge. My attorney billed at $500/ hour which is 30 percent more than the national DC average for top law firms. I realize now when I paid my retainer, it did not matter whether i actually had a legal case if it did the consults would be with an attorney. I should give five stars for the marketing and sales team because they do a great job to close a sale. But my legal issue was nothing that was complex in fact it dragged out for an extra month and $8K because the attorney did not understand federal employer regulations. I don't fault my attorney because the opposing party was not aware. My only other complaint is I felt my attorney was cowering to the opposing party and letting them make the demands. Nothing in the settlement agreement was meant to benefit me and when I did try to make a "demand" I felt as if the attorney was the opposing parties side. The only reason I agreed to the settlement is I was not in the position to pay $5-7K a month for essentially a mediation. There were times I purposely didn't respond because the charge didn't justify the conversation. Now that some time have passed and I have dealt with another firm on a far more extensive legal issue consists more of back and forth emails, I have no doubt there is unnecessary charges like $3K after the case is settled.

Literally the 5 star reviews are fake. they requires $4,000 retainer fee be paid before services. Just to send a mediocre severance request WITH TYPOS. These people are actually BRAINDEAD to think to charge someone $4,000 and a $700+ hourly fee when they don’t work….. most of your clients have lost their job why on worth would you went steal their money.

Ms. Schatsiek and Ms. Farr were phenomenal! They were prompt and so willing to serve. Ms. Schatsiek, was prompt in her responses and coordination between myself and Ms. Farr. She displayed genuine concern for my well-being every time we spoke during my case. I sincerely appreciate your compassion throughout such a grueling time. Ms. Farr, you are the standard of what an attorney should be. She effortlessly explained the legal jargon in a digestible way, and welcomed my engagement. Ms. Farr showed me a kindness that I did not expect; I was not just another client. She took time to get to know me, my past experiences and my future goals; and I believe in doing so, she fueled the fiery defense and offense that she delivered consistently, resulting in victory.
Ms. Schatsiek and Ms. Farr, I am grateful to have worked with you both. Your empathy, integrity, and work ethic is refreshing in today’s world. Continue to walk in your purpose; I will never forget either of you. If I can be of service to either of you in any capacity, please let me know.
Thank you ladies! The Spiggle Law Firm is represented well by you both.
