Going through a divorce is never a pleasant experience but working with Kara made it so much easier. She was a listening ear, and she went to bat on my behalf. I never had to worry about the state of my case because Kara always kept me informed. I tell everyone I know that if they need a lawyer to call Kara. She will take care of you without charging an arm and a leg.

Just a fantastic lawyer. On short notice he dissected my case quickly and used his long experience to leverage a terrific outcome. I was raised by lawyers and have hired a number over the years. I can't imagine you finding anyone better.

David helped guide me on what to do, answer questions, allay concerns and negotiated well with the prosecutor. After the steps he advised me to take and his negotiations I was able to get a lesser charge (speeding ticket) than was ticketed by the officer. I was very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommend for any traffic infractions.

To properly understand or fully appreciate this review of each of Kara Lee and Misha Lopez, you will need enough context of me and my situation. I know good value when it comes to retaining legal services, because I graduated from a top 25 law school in 2009. In 2011, I had a girlfriend whom I got pregnant in 2012, and by 2013 I married her; and later that year our daughter was born. I was the main caregiver of our daughter. By 2016 we were all living in Alexandria VA, but later in that year my wife (without telling me) decided in Aug. to divorce me. In secret, she hired an attorney, and began recording me in our home in hopes of gaining leverage in the divorce and custody dispute. Within two months of hiring her attorney, she had at least on two separate occasions made false or misleading statements about getting me arrested. I was not arrested. In Sept. 2016, I retained Kara, and we later defeated in court a petition for a protective order based on such misleading statements. Kara later negotiated joint custody during the separation period, and we were scheduled to mediate a divorce settlement by Aug. 2017. Just before that, on more false or misleading statements, I was actually arrested. Nevertheless, before the criminal trial, Kara again negotiated joint custody for a finalized divorce. In Aug. 2017, those criminal charges were dropped. By Feb. 2018, I was facing 20-25 false or misleading allegations that I had violated the divorce order entered by the court merely 4.5 months earlier. Kara in April in court defeated that rule-to-show-cause (i.e. contempt motion). More false or misleading statements arose in the form of an emergency-protective order in April 2018, and by that time my ex-wife had a new guy. He started showing up at custodial exchanges of my daughter in July 2018 and into 2019. From him and my ex wife, false or misleading statements were made in 2019 to police or magistrates. I was under criminal investigation in Aug 2019, when I reached out to Kara for advice. She had recently opened a new law firm with Mischa. My trust in her led me to retain Misha, who represented me as I—again—surrendered myself to arrest in Aug. 2019. The arrest warrant said “on/about August 2019,” but at the Sept. 2019 trial, minutes before it began, the VA commonwealth (“VACW”) amended the warrant to go back three years to Oct. 2016. We were in J&DR court, and we were unfortunate to have drawn Judge Frogale, who refused to see the truth that everyone else (e.g. the bailiff or court reporter) it seemed in the courtroom could see—that my ex wife was at least blatantly misrepresenting information. Judge Frogale found me guilty. Misha on my behalf appealed the ruling, and we were scheduled for a new trial, before a jury, in the circuit court, on February 10-11, 2020. Along my side, Misha worked tirelessly with facts stemming from 3+ years to fully understand the 15-20 allegations that the VACW was now trying to assert. On Feb. 10, after my ex wife was the first witness examined by the VACW, Misha began his cross examination of her. He was chronologically, thoroughly and meticulously impeaching her; but he had only gotten to her allegations dated in June 2017 when the honorable Judge Clark had to call overnight recess until the next day. It was once again clear to the audience that my ex-wife was making false or misleading statements. The judge asked both my attorney and the VACW to meet him in chambers after dismissing the jury for recess. By that night, the VACW left chambers, and made me a settlement offer that was better than what it had offered on the eve of the trial. The trial was stopped, and I am no longer subject to the original charges for the timeframe of Oct2016-Aug2019. Misha & Kara have been a true blessing for 3+ yrs in the lives of me & my daughter. They’re each highly intelligent, compassionate, efficient & effective. They understand both (crim & fam) court systems and the bias therein that exists. No doubt! They have my full endorsement, for anyone at risk of losing a lot.

I received a ticket for failure to pay full time and attention in Arlington (a misdemeanor) and Mr. Deane explained the entire process to me and informed me of what actions I should take. Mr. Deane attended my court date with me and negotiated with the prosecutor on my behalf. I had a favorable outcome due to David's representation and I would completely recommend him for any traffic infractions or misdemeanors you have, it's completely worth it!

My family has an excellent experience with David. He represented my son who has a case in Arlington Circuit Court. He was knowledgeable and responsive and we followed his advice and he got the case dismissed. Thank you David.

My first contact with MDMB Law was in late 2016 as I entered into the beginnings of my divorce, one of the worst periods in my life. Having worked with a couple different law firms in the National Capital Region, MDMB Law is - by far - the most communicative and fair firm with which I've dealt. When I first approached Jennifer Bradley, I made clear my desire to keep legal expenditures low and protect my children from needless harm during the divorce process, and she promised to do her best. Since then, she has held fast to this promise, even doing so while having to take maternity leave. Even though I had already moved to another firm to continue my case in her absence, she checked in with me, constantly, because she took a personal interest in my case and my family. As a collaborative law professional, she really does look to solve problems outside of the "Wild West" environment of the courtroom, and her reputation proceeds her. Before officially retaining her services, I had occasion to speak with a former VA Supreme Court Justice who, when I mentioned her name, gushed that she was a "wonderful attorney." My stepfather, a superior court judge in another state, would comment on my interactions with her by saying that he respected her approach. He is not a fan of the "file first, ask questions later" type of lawyer, and given his personality, that's not an easy compliment to earn. Jennifer is a true professional. If you asked her, she'd probably describe her dealings with me as 'business as usual,' but it's hard not to feel as if she's taken a vested interest in me and my family. My life is easier knowing she has my back.

Had pleasant consultation regarding matrimonial action with Jennifer Bradley. I presented her with a draft settlement document prepared by my wife’s counsel. I paid $1035.00 for Ms. Bradley to review the document and, hopefully, to proceed with the action. No retainer agreement was signed, but Ms. Bradley had a preliminary conversation with my wife’s counsel and all indications were that she would take the case. Several valuable weeks later, after trying to get in touch with Ms. Bradley twice, I received an early morning phone call from a receptionist who told me that Ms. Bradley had read the proposed agreement (a simple divorce, no minor children and my wife and I intend to remain business partners) but she had “personal issues” and would not take the case. I concede that is her right, but under those circumstances, I should not have to pay for Ms. Bradley’s reading of the proposed agreement, particularly since I have no proof (and no confidence) that she even glanced at it, let alone rendered an opinion on the proposed agreement or suggestions to improve it. No legal advice or services were rendered. I wasted valuable weeks which could have been spent working with a reputable attorney willing to participate in a very simple divorce and now I am at risk of a default judgment against me, placing me in extreme legal jeopardy of losing my home and all my possessions. For all that, she is trying to keep the fee rendered to review and report on the document, which she failed to do.
