I highly recommend Steven Krieger Law. Steven was patient while listening to my concerns and left me with a feeling of trust. He is knowledgeable and proposed a practical solution that resolved my concern. He did not attempt to impress me with a bunch of legalese just a sense of confidence in his ability.

Peace, I came to Krieger law through my membership with Prepaid Legal. Attorneys Steven and Grant were accessible, thorough, honest, patient, supportive, empathetic, and successful in helping me recoup financial loss after being scammed. I highly recommend their firm. Thank you, Krieger law.

I had a great experience working with Steven and his team. They were thoughtful, thorough, and great communicators. I was unknowingly sold a car with structural damage that never should have passed a VA State Inspection. The seller was unwilling to work with me, but with Steven's help, I was able to recoup my funds with a very positive outcome in court. I will be forever grateful to him and his team and would definitely recommend!

Steven Krieger Law helped me with a complicated legal issue and helped me get a favorable resolution. In addition to Mr. Krieger, I worked with several members of his team; they all were extremely professional and well-prepared when we went to court. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend the firm to others.

If you think perjury and a lawyer using police to intimidate people is a good idea as well as making unlawful motions in court, then this is your place to go. As for that address, it's not servable. It's an intentional lie to hide themselves from lawsuit service. That address is a UPS store, ground level in Arlington. Drove all the way there and spoke to the UPS manager. I sued my landlord to fix my HVAC in July 2023. Kreiger, filed an illegal, retaliatory unlawful detainer and in writing said, July 2023, it was fixed. Then in a hearing in Circuit in April 2024 said, "it was fixed in Sept" on the court recorded record. May 24, 2024, they replaced the entire system proving the point it was not fixed. I had to use the county building inspector and a reputable HVAC ($99 - "Old freon, downstairs unit board burned" - assessment) to threaten circuit court action in April 2024 to get the fix in May 2024. You cannot evict people in Va for failure to fix the HVAC and since in July 2023 we had midnight temps of 82 with 7 fans running and the system screeching and 2 refills in 3 years of the old freon (banned by EPA 2010), the case was obvious yet the case is STILL open and is a mark on my record blocking me from secret clearance and public trust cleared jobs. The Richmond FBI has been contacted for 10 USC 242 deprivation of rights by the courts and all of the parties. Likewise for the VSB and the JIRC.

Mr. Von Fricken was recommended to me by another lawyer and luckily took my case. My particular circumstances represented an uphill battle for any lawyer, but Mr. Von Fricken hardly flinched at the battle ahead. He was communicative, organized, and let me know well ahead of time what I could to makeour chances easier. We were given a particularly uncooperative judge the first time around, and Mr. Von Fricken continued to represent me at our appeal. On appeal we were given the outcome we wanted and I walked out of the courtroom with a still-clean criminal record. His rates are reasonable and he’s a personable guy with relationships with the prosecutors, and is a fantastic choice to represent you in your next case. Couldn’t think of any negative to say if I tried-the guy was my hero.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Arlington, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
