From our first conversation I knew Tara was the perfect fit. She was very concerned about my case and took the time to review carefully on my consultation. She was excellent in court, addressing every subject thoroughly and as aggressive as you would want any lawyer to be. If I need to handle another case she will be my first call.

Tara was hired for my child custody case. She sent me a draft of a motion, to which I provided edits, then she filed the wrong version of the motion and charged me for her time “editing”. She later contacted me from her personal phone, which I did not know was her personal number, so when I continued to contact her on the number with questions because I couldn’t get a response to my emails she very rudely told me to never contact her on that number again, and withdrew from my case without even communicating with me less than 2 weeks from my court date. She has been publicly admonished by the Virginia Bar Association for other professional conduct in 2017. BE WARNED

Hired Ms Steinnetrd to represent me in a family matter in 2019.Did a very poor job of representation, was quick to take my money but left me in a poor position in front of the judge. Then she withdrew at the last minute stating i did not respond ?? Shes been reprimanded by the bar association. Do your homework !

The biggest mistake I could make hiring a lawyer was Tara. She cost me my child which I have not seen in over a year. As a mother the worst thing to have happen is to lose a child, especially when one's own kayaker hands them over to the opposing party. Tara told me she was Judge Smith's "Pet." Disgusting. She would not let me know updates of what was paid for without further payment. I came to her with limited funds and she took my case. Unfortunately she withheld pertinent information about my child without harassing me for more money. The amount kept going up without further work on my case. She was billing me for even asking to set up a payment plan. She billed like crazy. The woman absolutely destroyed my life and my son's. She should be disbarred. Currently Tara is under bar review. She tried to sue me for funds after I had filed for bankruptcy and kept coming after me, until my Bankruptcy attorney sued her and we won. She is the worst lawyer and I am convinced my trial was not only set up, with outcome predetermined, but that she illegally colluded with opposing counsel. I fired her in court and in writing, to which she refused and continued to email opposing counsel. She accused my Bankruptcy attorney of man-splaining and was very unprofessional. If you want to lose your case, your family, and all of your money then hire her, but be warned. There seems to be a system at play in Fairfax County of taking children away from parents as well taking children away from mothers. Others are afraid to speak out, but it needs to be exposed. I truly wish this woman is disciplined and never has children of her own, she is clueless as to the lives she has ruined. Horrible woman.

I truly am lucky that I was pointed towards Tara. I put out a help message to my contacts and one came back with "I know a lawyer, here is her number, give her a call". I contacted Tara and met her at her office for a consultation. I was really worried about how to handle my divorce, but Tara was fantastic. She listened to me and I could tell she honestly cared, because she took the time to explain what we needed to do and why. Every time my Ex came back with more and more stupid stuff. Tara was there to help me navigate it. Like I said I would hands down without any hesitation refer people to her. In fact I already have.

The first time I was looking for a lawyer, I had three concerns. I was not sure how much the the lawyer would cost me, how much attention would the lawyer give to my case and how often would the attorney would be reachable. Tara Steinnerd exceeded my expectations, her charges were reasonable, she knew and remembered every detail about my case and I received answers to my calls and emails within the first two hours. Although she had many cases in her hand, she responded quickly and drafted perfect solutions for me. She fought hard for me and defended my case aggressively. I would not hesitate to work with her again even in matters outside her specialties because I just felt that I am in good hands with her. H.

We won… First some background: I am a professional who has worked hard his whole life. I have never been in trouble with the legal system. I am also the father of two babies. I came home one day and got served papers by the mother evicting me from my home, handing over my car, and worst of all losing my two babies. I was subsequently arrested. I lost everything. Even worse, I was facing not seeing my babies for two years. My life was turned upside down when I was referred to Ms. Steinnerd by Mr. Brendan Harold (another fantastic attorney). Ms. Steinnerd took the lead in the family court matter. I learned in court the children’s mother took the kids out of state and law enforcement had to bring them back. By this time the children were placed in a foster home by the most incompetent DSS system imaginable. I was fighting an unstable mother and an overly aggressive county DSS. I was helpless. I had no choice but to put all my faith in my attorneys. Ms. Steinnerd took on the case as if my children were her own. She learned everything there was to know about the case. Her southern charm and hospitality is rivaled only by her tenacious legal acumen. Ms. Steinnerd refused to back down or be intimidated by opposing counsel or judge. Throughout the trials Ms. Steinnerd would argue legal issues despite countless objections and repeated warnings to curb her enthusiasm. Without hesitation she pressed on to uncomfortable levels. Later, when I asked her why she put herself out there like that she simply said, “to get it on the record in case we have to appeal.” Any less of a person would have backed down. Instead, Ms. Steinnerd put herself on the chopping block to make sure we were legally covered. Within a month Ms. Steinnerd was able to get my children back to me. The house and car were returned. However, the battle was only just beginning. It would take another year for this seemingly endless saga of one court date after another to finally be over. Ultimately, we appealed to Circuit Court. In the end all charges leveled by DSS were thrown out. Sole legal and physical custody was awarded to me, the father. The criminal charge was ultimately dismissed. My children and I are home and doing well. It took all my savings and all my effort to get here but that’s okay. There is no price I wouldn’t pay for my babies. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I had no idea who Ms. Steinnerd was when I hired her. I had never been in a situation like this. It was a leap of faith that I thank God every day I took. However, not all cases are created equally. Every situation is different and any attorney has to work with the facts that you bring to the table. It is what it is and Ms. Steinnerd will work hard with you and those facts. If you decide to hire Ms. Steinnerd: Listen to her, do as she says, work hard, and have faith. It’s a team effort.

I was going through a divorce and needed some guidance. Tara steeped up to the plate making me feel comfortable and in control of my situation. Ms. Steinnerd seemed to understand what I was going through, and provided the legal counseling and support I needed. She absolutely worked with my and my family best interests in mind.

She counseled my fiancé on a prenup agreement.

Tara Steinnerd is professional, responsive, and practical. I felt comfortable with her from the beginning, she took the time to explain everything to me that I needed to know. Whenever I was confused or concerned, I could ask her questions and she would set me straight. I researched many different lawyers but found her to be the best. Her pricing is fair and her customer service is considerate and timely on a consistent basis. I highly recommend Tara Steinnerd.

From our very first meeting I felt extremely comfortable with Tara. She was very compassionate and I felt as though she actually cared about my case. I never felt like just another client to her. She did everything she legally could for me and even worked my case when she was on vacation! My case was not successful to no fault of Tara but when the final decision was made she helped me get an attorney in another state that could help. I highly recommend Tara!
