I wanted to express my gratitude for CPT Anouck McCall's efforts and dedication in representing me throughout my consumer law issue. Prior to seeking her help, I was fighting a long and upsetting process by myself. I never imagined any attorney advocating for me as intensely as she did. I knew withinfifteen minutes of meeting with CPT McCall that she was going to be my hero. She listened to the facts of my case and clearly explained all my options and possible outcomes. Then for months, CPT McCall supported me - keeping me calm and at ease about the stressful situation, gathering proper documentation, corresponding and negotiating with the manufacturer, and creating an exhaustive account of what transpired from beginning to end. I cannot even begin to count the mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays on her personal time when she called or emailed to counsel me or provide updates. Overall rating - five stars JW

I utilized 1LT Anouck McCall to represent me for my Army Physical Evaluation Board (PEB). In all honestly, my entire WTU & MEB process prior to meeting 1LT McCall was the most frustrating experience of my entire military career. When I arrived on day one in 1LT McCall's office, I was one "sour & salty" Field Grade Mustang Officer with a very complex medical case consisting of thousands of pages of documents to review and even more frustrated with the manner in which my health care had been managed and the violations of procedure in which my MEB had been conducted. By all means I represented both a "challenging case and even more challenging client" to 1LT McCall. I do not have the words in my vocabulary to give enough laudatory praise for the dedicated service and superior performance that 1LT McCall provided to me from day one. I cannot count the numerous phone calls she initiated on the evenings and weekends on her personal time dedicated to my case to discuss strategy and provide zealous advocacy for me and my family. The most important element in any relationship is trust and she earned my trust. She understands basic leadership 101 and keeps her Soldiers/clients informed and is responsive to their needs. The bottom line are always the results and her record speaks for itself: SHE DELIVERS!! No false promises. She is an outstanding attorney because she is smart yes, but more important because she really puts the time in and is dedicated and it shows. In my specific case, the Army denied the existence of a complex medical condition at the MEB and with 1LT McCall's expertize and guidance was fairly adjudicated ruled to exist at the PEB, thus increasing my permanent disability retirement rating from 40% to 100%. 1LT McCall invested countless hours of her personal time into my case and my family will forever be indebted to her. Lastly, most importantly 1LT McCall represents the Warrior Ethos and the Army Values. She is just plain old all around "good people". She is a winner. If I am going to battle, I want her in the foxhole right next to me. If it is Elementary School and it is recess time and we are playing kickball....guess who is getting picked first? Anouck!! Courtroom & need a attorney? Starting a company? The simple answer is that when you find someone with true core values and combine it with hard work it makes a WINNER! I would recommend Anouck for any mission (job or challenge) and serve with her anywhere and anytime!

Concise, thoughtful and very supportive. Mr. Miguel is someone I would highly recommend. He helped me guided through my questions on green card process and immediately helped in filing within the timeline. In addition, he helped my wife and I for other legal questions we had regarding employment related and for citizenship N400 interview. Overall, Mr Miguel gave us an excellent advise and right direction through out the process. Thank you, J

Miguel was great, he handled my case quickly and effectively. He is a true professional. He met me before each court hearing and discussed/went over all documents and made sure I understood everything. My case was eventually dismissed after I completed my diversion program and Miguel was always helpful in the process. It was easy for me, all I needed to do was show up and he handled the rest, I greatly appreciate all that he did for me.

Miguel has been extremely helpful and managed to turn around what could have become a major source of trouble. He assessed the case well and put in tireless effort to have the case dismissed. Finally, he found a loop-hole (or rather a difference in two different state laws) that helped get the case closed.

I have had the pleasure in having Stephanie Hosea as my attorney. Attorney Hosea have demonstrated integrity, professionalism, a caring spirit, honesty and left me with a sense of peace. I've have attorney's in the past that left me feeling totally ripped off and no remorse. I recommend her because she is committed to her clients and she is honest. Attorney Hosea, provided exceptional representation for me in my discrimination case. She was very friendly to me and I will never forget her. I was very impressed with how quickly she read all the evidence, caught on to the inconsistencies in my investigation. As a federal employee, filing a charge of discrimination is very stressful, but Attorney Hosea, explained all the details to my understanding. Because of her compassion, integrity, and expertise, makes her an outstanding attorney and I felt safe with her representing me.

Stephanie Hosea provided excellent representation AND support for me when my Governmental Agency unjustly terminated me from my job in Maryland. Ms. Hosea stepped in and handled my case with expertise. Her hard work led to my termination being rescinded and I was awarded my job back within three months.

Our estate administrator engaged Mr. Fife after an estate with multiple heirs became bogged down. We wish we had used his services from the beginning instead of trying to do it ourselves. In spite of entering a situation in which heirs had become contentious, Mr. Fife’s calm, fact-based professionalism helped all parties to meet deadlines and achieve resolution. Mr. Fife listened carefully, took our concerns seriously and helped us understand the potential risks or rewards of the available options, helping us set priorities. He did not sugarcoat the hard realities of dealing with competing interests. He proactively explored and respected any limitations that were present with respect to time, budget and our roles as clients. He is precise, experienced and knowledgeable, but did not hesitate to research any points in question in advance of staking a claim on those points — to us a most valuable asset in an estate attorney.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Arlington, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
