Andi and I worked together in the Fall of 2024. Her kindness, diligence, and—above all—professionalism were unmatched. Even during our consultation period, Andi made sure I had all of the resources I needed to be successful as we worked on my case. She was always available for guidance, and I was grateful for the effort that she put into really getting to know me and my character. When working with Andi, I never felt like I was in the dark: it is no exaggeration to say that there was never a question she was unable to answer. Andi's work is airtight, and she supported me at every step of the way. Her knowledge of the local courts is unparalleled, and the value of that expertise was made manifest throughout the months we worked together. If you are looking for a professional, compassionate, knowledgeable lawyer who will put everything she has into your case, look no further than Andi Geloo.

If I wanted to talk about Andy, the first thing I would say is that she is a great, professional, and well-mannered person. As for my case, I did not expect good results and I was trying to minimize the loss, but with her great skill, professionalism, and experience, she was able to obtain the highest gain for the case, which was almost acquittal without any damages. She gave me my driver’s license and transformed my feelings from the highest degree of frustration and fear to happiness and joy with the great results that I reached. In addition to that, she treats you as a friend or as one of her family members. I can only extend my thanks and gratitude to her, and I recommend her to anyone who needs a clever, intelligent, skilled, loving, welcoming, and friendly lawyer. She is very welcoming and acts with all emotion, wisdom, and intelligence. My case was somewhat complicated, and she made everything easy for me. She held my hand and told me not to worry. Her words were like medicine to me, and while I was entering the courtroom, she was… It was a great fear for me, but she was always trying to get rid of my negative feelings for all the positive and beautiful feelings. She stood by me and my family members. She is great and beautiful. She saved me, and I did not expect that I would not only win my case, but that I also won the sweetest and most beautiful person and the best lawyer ever. Thank you for everything. Everything inside me was not enough for what you did for me, and it was not enough for all the love, respect, and appreciation inside me to love so much.

After my son received a reckless driving ticket in September, I tried helping him out by finding an attorney. When I was referred to Andi, from the first interaction, she made us feel comfortable. The offense was significant, and there was a high likelihood that my son may lose his license and receive some jail time. This offense was not characteristic of my son's driving behavior and right away Andi clearly understood that. She skillfully engaged with the judge, and when all was said and done, the reckless driving offense was reduced dramatically to a minor infraction. A day full of anxiety and fear turned into a day of jubilation. Beyond Andi's ability to help us in the most profound way in court, she took the time to have a thought-provoking conversation with my son and I when we were done. She spent about 30 minutes, talking with us about life experiences and saying words of encouragement and support for both my son and I. We are so thankful that we found Andi, and while I hope to never need her legal assistance again, without any doubt in my mind, she would be at the top of our list if I did. Not only did I find a great legal mind, I found a friend.

If I could select a 6th star, Danielle is the one that deserves it. I have dealt with numerus attorneys in the past and all fall short of her. Danielle practiced the utmost professionalism and integrity in dealing with my cases. She is compassionate to her clients but also result driven to make sure they get the best outcome possible. She constantly kept me in the loop and would field my worrisome phone calls, even though I am sure I was a pest. She is brilliant in her approaches to dealing with situations. You can tell she is respected amongst other attorneys and judges which goes a long way. When other attorneys told me certain outcomes were impossible, I brought it to Danielle, and she solved it. She is a modern-day Houdini in my eyes. I could not be more grateful for all the hard work she has done for me and I can rest assure I would never use another attorney, nor recommend one. She is definition of what a young upcoming attorney should be. I can confidently say she is a blessing to the law community and will remain at the top, as her career continues. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Danielle. I wish you nothing but the best moving forward in your career.

Alex Laufer took my case and represented me throughout a long and challenging insurance settlement following a vehicle accident that caused me irreparable injury and chronic pain. He worked the case with determination and resourceful strategy and obtained a settlement that was fair to all parties. Most important to me, he obtained that result with unquestionable integrity, and without causing animosity or ill will with the insurance companies and parties involved. When the case was concluded, everyone walked away from the experience with the sense that it was a routine business transaction. If I ever need a lawyer again, I will not hesitate to call Alex or his law firm for help.

Alex Laufer is a great attorney for many of your legal needs. I have used him for many areas dealing with real estate, real estate settlements, contracts and general business issues. I have referred many clients, both business and personal) to him and his firm and in each instance he was able to help the client or myself in regard to our legal needs.

Mr. Laufar not only approached the case as requested, he also introduced other variables that resulted in a larger award. He explained parts of the law that we were not aware of at the time. Had we gone to Mr. Laufar 6 months earlier, we would have had a much larger award than obtained at the end of the case. If any follow-up work is required, we will definitely go back to Mr. Laufar and we do recommend him for any legal action.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fairfax, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
