"There now appeared on the ravaged scene an Angel of Deliverance..." This was a quote by Sir Winston Churchill from his book "History of the English-Speaking Peoples". Churchill was referring to Joan of Arc, but this line describes perfectly how I felt the day Linda took on my very contested custody case and divorce. All custody cases are difficult and painful I know, but I would dare say mine had it all. I am a government employee with a security clearance who's wife was a foreign national until just before our separation when she got her citizenship. After that, her family came to stay for the summer but never left some remained here illegally. When I refused to support them for fear of losing my job, my wife demanded a divorce and full custody of our child or she and her family would not leave our home - essentially blackmailing me to force me to choose between my job and my child. Shortly after is when Linda appeared on the ravaged scene. For almost the next year, my wife and her family remained in my home while we were separated and through the final custody decision. As time progressed, my wife and her family accused me of everything they could think of: a neglectful father who didn't care about his son, an alcoholic, emotionally and then physically abusive to her, etc. When that did not dissuade me, she then began claiming that I had abused my kids and later on even made the claim my older child from a previous relationship would hit his younger brother (who was the subject of our custody battle). She and her family were attempting to alienate my child from me in my own home, and there was nothing I could do as her name was still on the residence. My ex even invoked her Fifth Amendment Rights three times during the case! What divorce lawyer anticipates dealing with Constitutional Law in a custody trial? Ms. Choe handled it perfectly! Needless to say it was a stressful and miserable year. By the time we got to court, my ex's allegations had grown so outrageous she was now seeking full legal and physical custody and claimed I shouldn't even have overnight visits with my child. During it all, Ms. Choe was absolutely amazing! I could truly see and hear the care and concern from her when discussing my situation. She treated my case as if it were her own, and fought every step of the way with as much passion as you would expect if she were fighting for her own child! From retainer to ruling, Linda was my lawyer, my ally, my coach, my defender, my rock and my friend. She would call just to check on my well being and work late into the weekends to ensure we were ready for court - all the while making countless attempts to arrive at a reasonable settlement with the other side. Unfortunately, there was no reason to be had. Linda fought every step of the way to defend me, and at times it truly felt like my entire life was on trial. It was a nightmare I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Despite my at times being an emotional wreck, Linda was steady, calm, always had a plan, was always there for me, and smart as they come! From depositions to court to discovery, Linda ran circles around the opposing council! Our three day case ended with a continuation and finally, when we returned to receive the Judge's ruling a month after the trial, we prevailed! I received the fair and just ruling I had been asking for all along. Joint legal and physical custody with my son, 50/50 visitation, and my request to have him finally enrolled in preschool. Linda had done it! She saw me through what was undeniably the worst period of my life. She did it with grace and the utmost professionalism, and despite everything the other side was throwing at us she never dropped a ball or missed a beat. If it wasn't for Linda, my life would have been forever changed for the worse and I may have never gotten to see my son. I will never forget what she has done for me and my boys, and she will always be my Angel of Deliverance!

I've struggled writing this review simply because I can't find adequate words to describe how phenomenal I thought working with Linda Choe on my family law case really was --- my words simply fail to do her justice. Whatever I say here, you have to know your experience will be even better & I know Iwould write similar things even if the outcome of my case was different. Hire her! -Linda has a fierce precision & calculus that can’t be trained. Hands down, this was one of the most impressive & awesome things about her. Her level of attentiveness & responsiveness never diminished. I felt that she cared for my problems just as fiercely as you would expect of a family member/friend. It’s pretty astounding to find a person that is adept at both having a fantastic "bedside manner" providing all the emotional support while keeping sights on the ultimate endgame, pushing through to the objective without belittling the client's needs or being insensitive. She has such a remarkable work ethic committed to mission. Whether she realizes it or not (but her superiors need to), she is a proficient logistician with a masterful handle on emotional IQ. If you read nothing else, hire Linda Choe as she is destined for even greater and bigger things in her not so distant future. To her firm: make her a partner! -So, 9 months ago I sent her an email right before Christmas at 10:17 pm & she responded at 10:47 pm. It was the first time I ever contacted her & to her I was random. She responded so quickly, confidently, with concern & ready to help. Even not having met her, her email just exuded that she had substance. I didn’t expect any lawyer to remain as consistently responsive & attentive through the duration of a case, but Linda blew my expectations out of the water. -Linda knows the legal code & precedent every which way. She has experience on top of this that informed my entire process. She has a fierce precision, calculus & a “code” that can’t be trained; it’s based on her character & experience. This allowed her to devise a strategy & see where the bounds of my case’s reality were, where we could push it & take risk while avoiding miscalulation. She has such a remarkable work ethic committed to mission. Notice I said mission; not goal. A goal is the object of a person’s ambition, it’s removed, impersonal, distant. But a mission is a strongly felt ambition or vocation --- it’s completely different. You want someone devoted to mission; they are tenacious, tireless, focused. Linda takes on everything as if it is HER mission (I had to tell her to sleep more than once ;) -Linda is the epitome of genuine. She never handled me. She treated me with respect. She listened to EVERY. SINGLE. WORD. She will tell you what to expect, what she can deliver, where she feels a client's expectations need to be managed, as well as filter & empathize all the stress & emotions that are inevitable in family law cases. When you get to this stage of life crumbling, legal deadlines looming, emotionally distraught…you want a leader (even if you are always the leader). I don’t know how she deals with multiple emotionally charged cases daily as its incredibly taxing. Yet, there is Linda owning this domain, smile on her face, quick wit, sense of humor, insanely methodical, confident & productive. Whether she realizes it or not (but her superiors need to) she is a gifted tactician with a masterful handle on emotional IQ. This is an adroit business acumen & critical in her field & it seems effortless for her. This is absolutely meant to be a compliment because like I said, she is every bit genuine; this is just the way Linda is "tuned" as a human being. I knew instantly that she was everything I had been hoping for. I’m so grateful to have come across that random referral. My child’s life & my own are back on track for normalcy, happiness, peace & success. I owe it to Linda. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You deserve even greater & better things than you know.

Linda is an excellent lawyer. My case was somewhat prolonged and my needs changed as my case progressed. Without getting into the details of my case, I can say she displayed a number of characteristics that dramatically helped me throughout my experience. Compassion: She was compassionate. She seemed to understand where my head was throughout this process and that helped keep me focused. It is easy to get lost in the details with custody cases. Honesty: She was honest in what should could deliver and she provided a very realistic picture on what I was facing, what to expect, and how to overcome those obstacles. I am grateful for that perspective and I do not think our outcome would have been the same had she not framed each phase of our case in those terms. Competent: Yes! She knows what she is doing. She knows the law and she is unafraid to leverage that expertise on the opposing side. It is clear to me that she is an overachiever. This personality trait really highlights my experiences with her. I hope I do not need her expertise in the future. However, if I do, she will be the one I go to.

Mrs. Graziella Bianchi is without a doubt the very best criminal lawyer I've ever come crossed!!! I was being charged with a very challenging felony and misdemeanor some years back. My situation wasn't the easiest though, at that time I was also in the process of obtaining legal status in this country and being charged with those type of charges was a definite and clear way to deportation; at least that's what the two previous two lawyers said about my case, "there is no point of fighting the case" they said, I was doomed and I was going to return to a country a barely knew...But my family and I didn't want to accept it, and so we kept trying! and I'm glad we did ! One amazing Immigration lawyer referred her to us, and that's when everything changed for the better for me...The moment you walk into her office and start speaking to her, you realize this is no ordinary lawyer. As I finished telling her all about my case, a part of me thought that she was going to do the same as the previous lawyers and tell me it was a lost case...but no.. she listened, took a moment, and made some calls...after that, she told me that she was going to represent me, and although it was in fact a difficult case, I could just tell she believed in my case, but most importantly she believed in me, she believed I didn't deserve to get deported, and I deserved to stay here...Long story short, after multiple court visits before judge...I was finally free! (No, I wasn't in prison but my charges were dropped! and FREE was exactly how I felt!) and it was all thanks to Mrs. Bianchi, for all her hard work and dedication...I remember feeling so thankful to God for letting this amazing person represent me and not throw me out like the others did...Thanks to her I am now living my life here happily. THANK YOU AGAIN MRS. BIANCHI!! I cant stress that enough! You are truly an amazing, honest, caring, brilliant, and diligent lawyer! I wished there was many more like you! May God always bless you and your family!

I was arrested for a DWI in the summer of 2017. Graziella was caring, supportive and 100% honest of my chances and what I needed to do to get through the charges. Graziella worked with me and the prosecutor to get me the best possible deal and to get the charges reduced as much as possible. I’m so glad to have found Graziella and to have her representation, if you are in need of a lawyer in Arlington/Fairfax or nearby areas I highly recommend her!

Emily is knowledgeable, meticulous with details and well organized. She is quick to pick up inconsistencies in testimony and call the witness on it. She kept me posted in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend her--and have recommended her to others.

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fairfax, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
