If you want to lose a lot of money and then lose in court, hire Mr. Sris. Rescheduled my court date and I didn't even bother telling me. In addition to this nerve-racking experience, did not put any effort in defending me in court the second time around. And at the end I had a feeling that he represented the prosecutor, not me. During the initial intake it felt like it was all about how awesome he is and not about the client's needs. Highly questionable work ethics led to a terrible outcome at the end. Just an awful experience overall. Stay away. Do not repeat my mistake of trusting this person. Guys like him are the reason people don't trust lawyers. I wish there was a way to disbar him or at least to give him minus five stars. Just an awful person.

My father has used him and thinks he is amazing. Now I used him and I think he is amazing. He won my DUI case in Fairfax Virginia in 10 minutes. He spent time talking to me about my case and I was so nervous because I go to George Mason and I need my license to drive to classes. He waited the whole day because the prosecutor put my case at the end of the docket and then he took it to trial. He told me he was going to fight for me and he did. Best part is that he won. EW

Mr. Sris has been our family attorney for the better part of 12 years. In that time he has helped my family with a number of different criminal cases. Mr. Sris is an amazing attorney and I would strongly recommend him to anyone seeking one of the best Attorney's in Virginia. Specifically, Mr. Sris helped my brother with 2 misdemeanors, myself with multiple felonies and my dad with an amazing jury trial. His width and breadth of his knowledge of criminal law was incredible. His staff who speak Spanish are so on top of it. He even helped me become a US Citizen when everybody else thought I was going to be deported after almost 20 years in the US. Again I cannot recommend Mr. Sris enough, he will continue to be my attorney for the foreseeable future and a trusted adviser in my ventures going forward. JP

He's all about the money; He takes the cases, and his as assistance work on them, though he still charges fees that you would pay a professional attorney. He did not fight for my case at all; I got stuck with him in a process that I couldnt let go at that time. He streched my case for over a period of 2 years when the case was VERY simple, giving in to the other party and allowing them time they needed to get what they needed to get done. He's just in this business to make money.

John is an exceptional attorney who completely exceeded all of my expectations. He is very personable and was attentive to all of my emails, questions and concerns. He fought diligently for me and gave me the absolute best outcome possible in a court room. At no point did I feel like just another client. I had a fantastic experience with John and he would hands down be the very first attorney that I would recommend to anyone seeking counsel.

I had the privilege of working with Alex being Alex's client on a matter spanning several years of repeated litigation, all of which we won with Alex's great help. As an attorney myself, I particularly appreciated Alex's willingness to consider my input. Unlike many professionals, Alex does not give orders. He listens, tries to put himself in the client's shoes, then, applying his expertise, presents available options, so the client can understand them and make informed decisions. Alex's uniquely broad experience as a judge's clerk, big firm associate and family law attorney has given him a rare wealth of perspectives to draw from to handle each client, matter and situation he encounters. I give him my highest recommendation and would work consider myself fortunate to work with him again.

Mr. Lewis handled my case diligently, he was attentive and most of all kind. He answered all my questions promptly, he didn’t sugar coat anything, but he fought for me to the best of his ability. We won, what seemed like an impossible task became possible and my gratitude is extended to him and his firm. His paralegal Danielle is also attentive and kind. Everyone in the office is professional. If you need a lawyer he is your man, you will be happy you hired him. They are also very organized which makes it all easy. Overall an amazing firm!!! Thank you Alex Lewis

I was interested to find the firm is all young female lawyers. I gave them a chance and was pleased with the result. I was assigned Jesci Norrington, which was excellent for the job. Jesci wrote an new will for me and found that my home deed needed updating of dual ownership and added survivor clauses to protect either my wife or me. This was all done quickly and looked great, at a reasonable fee. I am well pleased and am spreading the word. Thanks.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fairfax, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
