I needed a pit bull in the courtroom and that was Ms. Krueger. Court can be a scary place, but she took control and I was confident she would make sure the truth came out. She was more prepared than anyone in the room and when she talked they listened. I'm glad I listened too when she was recommended to me! She was a fighter when I needed one and a tough negotiator too. I could tell she cared and she believed in my fight. Would never want any other lawyer on my side.

Ms. Krueger knows her stuff. She represented me in Spotsylvania County and really went above and beyond to help me navigate an unfamiliar process. She was accessible and spent the time with me I needed and I was confident she and her staff knew the facts of my case inside and out. She fought hard for me in court and never backed down. Let's just say I was glad she was on MY side. Thank you, Ms. Krueger!

She is so horrible... I can't believe she don't believe in what I tell her , but believe in the other side attorneys...and she ask me to pay more fee to her right before the next trail day... and she lie about the time she use... when I ask her let me see the statement of the time use....she push my next trail date after 6 months later...and when I ready to change to a new attorney, she say she will tell the other attorneys , I can't afford to pay the attorney fee...she is very horrible attorney...

Robin Krueger is thorough, professional and prepared when she represents you in court. After being divorced and trying to represent myself in regards to custody and visitation, and losing - enough was enough. I thought that I couldn't afford to retain her, but instead- I couldn't afford Not to! She realized gaps in the support that I was being paid, mistakes in calculations and what I was entitled to and the end result was me leaving court with double the amount of support that I had previously. That allows me to provide a better life for my 2 children which was the main objective going in to court. I am truly grateful for her knowledge, her dedication and most importantly, the fact that she cares which is evident when she stands before the Judge. Right is right and that is what she stands for. I highly recommend her and I will not return to court again, without her.

Tracy was very thorough and listened to our needs and her staff was a great support also. My husband was injured in an accident and spent 30 days in the hospital. I contacted Tracy and all my needs and worries were taken care of. I was informed of our rights and Tracy researched a great deal of information to help us with our case. She is very personable and easy to talk to and share concerns with. My husband and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a personal injury lawyer.

The car I was driving was hit nearly head-on by an out-of-state, unemployed, uninsured, young-adult driver who never responded to his several court summons. I had to have two operations, plus I had to remodel my house in order to accomodate a wheelchair. I needed all the financial help I could get. Tracy knew exactly how to present my case to Medicare and to my backup Federal BCBS insurance, as well as to my car insurance company. Had I been on my own through this paperwork nightmare, I may have had to sell my house just to pay my bills. I was getting a lot of pain medication and I could not concentrate well...her patience and courtesy to me were outstanding.

I am a vocational expert witness in the Washington, D.C., area, and often testify in divorce cases. Ms. Meyer is as good as it gets. Kind, smart, funny, diligent, tough (I'd not want to fight her). Ya know how on rare occasions you meet someone who is truly exceptional? Well, let me introduce you to Ms. Meyer. She is as genuine as anyone you will ever meet, ever. You can do no better.

Tracy Meyer represented me in a case that began as a request for a child support modification involving several states and ultimately involved custody and visitation changes as well. Tracy had an excellent rapport with me and was able to reassure me when needed, but also to give it to me straight at times. She knew what to anticipate and was able to communicate with me clearly. She was phenomenal in the courtroom where I was extremely grateful for her knowledge, professionalism and decency. It was clear she was respected in the courtroom and I believe her experience and demeanor were seen clearly. I would highly recommend Tracy Meyer.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
