If I could give 0 stars- I WOULD! Did NOT show up to court! Red flag #1 When Raimo was appointed to my child support case I spent the entire time leading up to my court date trying to reach her with no success. I tried everything. She DOES NOT respond or return emails, phone calls, millions of voicemails etc. Red flag #2 When I finally heard from her it was via a text message sent at midnight- which I find completely unprofessional. With my court date 4 days away, I was feeling desperate and helpless, so I responded immediately, but AGAIN got no response until 2 days before court. Red flag #3 When I finally spoke to her, I explained my case but she offered no sound advice or options for fighting the case. She seemed uninterested and claimed she was busy with “school.” This interaction left me feeling just as hopeless as before. Now at this point I should’ve known better and looked elsewhere for help, but she had dragged me and ignored me right up until the weekend before court so I had no time. Now here I am, waiting to see the judge, and she is nowhere to be found; Ignoring all my calls and texts. Long story short- SHE DID NOT EVEN SHOW UP TO COURT!! TWO DAYS LATER - she sends me a nonchalant text message saying- “Sorry I missed you. What happened in court?” She did not even have the decency to give me a call. Disgustingly unprofessional. I NEVER write reviews but this one was necessary!! This lady should have her license revoked! As a lawyer, clients put their trust in you and you are responsible for their well-being, freedom, representation in the legal system. I’m sorry but this lady is TRASH!

It was like I didn’t have a lawyer at all.

I was in a rather difficult predicament. The court made a misnomer, and used the wrong name . This was a complicated matter, so I had spoke with several attorneys, but after speaking with Ms. Raimo I was confident and felt she was the most knowledgeable. She was methodical in her approach in tackling this. She knew all of the court regulations, statues, and codes etc. The judges, prosecutors, clerks and everyone involved with the case were all confused with how to proceed. They all deferred to her essentially. She was superb in contacting everyone and always communicating with me in a timely fashion. Many lawyers are poor in this regard. The fast speed and pace she worked at got my issue resolved in about a month after initially meeting her. She seems to be truly devoted and passionate about her work. Not only that she gave me an absolutely fair price for her consul. Many other attorneys wanted an arm and a leg for my case. I Thank God that I met Ms. Raimo and she was able to rectify this for me. Do yourself a favor and hand your case to Ms. Raimo.

I'd like to take a moment to recognize Shawn Stout. He came to me like an Angel and a gift from God. My situation was very complex due to the poor representation from a previous lawyer. When I retained Shawn, he listened, observed and resolved my issues well above my expectations. I was very impressed how he fixed a problem that should have been resolved 5 years ago from my previous lawyer, then later got me cleared and my freedom from the worst nightmare that anyone could ever imagine in Prince William County. Thanks to Shawn, I can now get my self-esteem, my courage and my life back together again. I would highly recommend Shawn Stout to represent anyone, especially someone who is being treated unfairly. He goes above and beyond expectations to make it happen. Very Happy!

Sarah stepped in to help me when I had no one to turn too. I could not find my previous attorney who was working my case and in desperation I came across Sarah with Manassas Law Group. After my consultation, I hired her immediately to finalize my Divorce. She was kind, considerate and listened to my concerns and in the end she got it done. Thank you Sarah and your paralegal Sydney because you were able to calm my nerves during a very difficult time in my life. Sarah is professional but felt like I was speaking to someone I’ve know all my life. I wish I could give you more than 5 stars. Thank you for everything.

I have had the fortunate luck to have found Charles Nucciarone of Manassas Law group to help me with an unfair (in my opinion) traffic citation. I was impressed with his organization, promptness, and his phone etiquette. He sent me links that I to access along with clear instructions on what to send and what to do. I had called 2 other firms and there was considerably lower professionalism and surprisingly their costs were considerably more. I do have my own experience with the levels of legal professionalism having occasionally served as an expert witness in malpractice suites. I highly recommend this firm.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Manassas, Virginia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
